I hadn't thought of that. An additional angle is what happens with Siemian. Would he have more interest in coming back for another season at a fairly reasonable price because there are even more familiar faces that May believe in him?
They let Sloter go so I was wondering if there was a reason. To me, it is time for Sloter to either be the backup or move on from him. Sieman is a guy that I think would be a league minimum signing.

They picked Osweilller and their former first round pick on the roster over Sloter. It's not like they didn't like him. They wanted him back.
I get it and they hoped he would make it to the practice squad. It is just how much faith they had in him. I know there was some talk about him maybe not meshing with this coaching staff or practice habits, but he has shown 2 years in a row in the preseason that he is a gamer.
The Kubiak signing is interesting for a couple reasons, One, because when Stefanski finally gets an OC job they bring in an experienced OC/HC to "assist" him. Not exactly a vote of confidence. Two, because they have an inhouse replacement for Zimmer if things aren't looking good early next season. If they get off to a slow start I would not be at all surprised to see Zimmer let go and Kubiak assume the HC position. I really like Zimmer, but I don't think it's unfair to suggest he's been out coached by teams with inferior talent far too often in his time in Minnesota.
I stand by my opinion that getting the O-Line fixed is going to be the biggest factor in next year's success or failure. I had said multiple time going into last season that while I think Cousins is a better QB than Keenum, Keenum's mobility and recklessness made him a better fit for a team that offers little protection.

I think the in house candidate is actually Stefanski. I don't think Kubiak is able to do it because of his health. I think having Kubiak around would help Stefanski if he was the guy. Honestly though I think Zimmer unless things really go sideways is a good coach and isn't in that much danger. Remember it was a couple years ago this team had multiple former head coaches working for the team. Pat Shurmer got a head coaching gig after initially taking a TE coaching position here.

I'd only say if the team felt that way Zimmer wouldn't be going into next season as a lame duck. If they wanted to show confidence in him they could give him a 1 year extension that could always be extended again if they succeed. The fact that they didn't tells me Zimmer's seat is rightfully getting warm.

I agree it's warm. I think not giving Zimmer a longer deal might be more about if this team has some problems...Spielman might be the one with the hottest seat. If you decide to move on from your GM the coach is less likely to stay also. Personally I think Zimmer and Spielman are a fairly good combo even though they have made some errors. Sadly they are probably the best combo in MN sports right now (aside from the Lynx) maybe you can argue the Wild but there has been too much turnover there.
Spielman and Zimmer are tied together. We need more out of the draft for sure. This team needs some young blood in spots.
I would love to see us hire Dave DeGuglielmo who coached up the Colts.

One guy I had kinda forgotten about is Aviante Collins. He seemed to be doing well in camp etc I wonder if he could be part of a better line next year or at least an upgrade in depth. He and O'Neill both ran 4.8 40 times. I don't usually get to wrapped up in 40 times but that seems pretty intruiging.
