You are right they need to keep drafting and finding cheap young players to keep this thing rolling. They certainly have been more aggressive trying to add young players especially undrafted guys paying as much as they can to get guys they really want. Honestly I feel about as good about the QBs on this roster as I have for a while with Cousins Siemian and Sloter. That's sorta feels weird to say right?
Agreed. This draft will be huge for us. We need to fine 2-3 contributors next year to be true SB contenders.
And yes I feel good about QB position. In 2017 we spent about 22.5M on QBs. In 2018 we are going to spend about 26.5M. Not that huge of a jump considering.
That's a good way of looking at it. The cap is supposed to keep going up so Cousins deal while a pretty significant chunk may not seem quite and onerous.
The kinda funny thing about this offseason is many fans are sad about Vikings QBs leaving and a lot of that has to do with the feel good stories of Keenum and Teddy plus those guys are incredibally likeable. Guess what the Vikings have a roster of QBs that have their own underdog stories too. Cousins was drafted as a backup to a franchise QB and most people didn't really buy into him as a starter till recently. Heck some people still don't think he is that good. His own team never believed in him. Siemian is an undrafted guy that was a pretty worthwhile starter his first year and after struggling was traded for peanuts. Sloter is an undrafted guy that almost quit playing football in college. I think Cousins will quickly win people over. He is already what Keenum could be in like 3 years if he is actually a legit NFL starting QB. It was amusing to see that introducing him John Elway couldn't even say his name right. Lol
Bronco's are screwed. I don't see Keenum as the guy and they didn't do his contract like is going to be the guy either. There are 4 top QBs in this draft and they pick 5th. It will be interesting what Cards and Bills do. If I am the Card or Bills I am staying put and taking Lamar Jackson and then either Faulk/Lauletta later in the draft.

I honestly hope Keenum plays well but I have skeptism and I liked him this time last year. I have a number of friends that are Broncos fans that makes me not disappointed if Denver does well. :) A couple of my friends noted though how Keenum was "their guy" but Elway shows up to the press conference looking like he was on vacation and Keenum looked like he was dressed like he going to the freaking Oscars or something. Maybe there isn't anything to read into it but it's kinda funny. Maybe Elway was disrespecting him on purpose to keep him motivated. Lol
I agree with you I don't really think he is their guy either. They may have targeted him because they liked him but also didn't have to commit to him like they would have had to with Cousins. If Keenum works out great they can probably keep him as long as they want to pay him. If not they will have drafted the next guy or have some hope Lynch doesn't suck. That was my point about Keenum for this offseason. I think he would have come back to the Vikings for less money even if we had also brought back Teddy because everywhere he would go the teams were likely to have a chance to draft his replacement. Teddy may have been his replacement if he came back and based on the offers he got...he may have. Cousins being available and him wanting to come to the Vikings changed things and now the Vikings have a possible Case Keenum type player as their backup in Siemian. Maybe it ends up not working out but it's looking good at this point.
Couldn't agree more. I will be curious what Eric Decker signs for. I wonder if we would have any interest in a cheaper deal. I could see him as 3rd WR on a hometown discount. (Doesn't he have an annoying wife?)

I'm interested also but I'm gonna guess he gets a couple million and a bit more than the Vikings might be worth giving him considering...how good is he anymore? The last I saw he was visiting the Raiders.

I'm very happy with the Cousins signing and Siemian trade, but at the same time I firmly believe Sam Bradford is the best QB this team has had since Favre's one good season, his health just cannot be counted on with a team looking to win it all.

Bradford can be great with an excellent pass blocking oline. His weaknesses are his injuries and his lack of mobility.
For this team who was still not great in pass blocking Case was actually a better choice. He did a great job avoiding the rush and making plays. With great pass blocking to let Bradford throw and so he doesn't take more hits then needed he could do well.
I really hope we do not continue down that road of ignoring the OLine because Cousins is not as good as Keenum in avoiding the rush and as quick on his feet.
I still think OLine is the weakest part of the team and they have done nothing yet in FA to sure it up.

And yet it's still incredible what Bradford was able to do in 15 games with that oline in front of him (one of the worst lines I have ever seen from any team) and somehow he stayed healthy for that season. He just got rid of the ball very quickly which is an important skill not many guys can do at the level he showed. Souhan has said a number of people in the Vikings organization said Bradford was the toughest skinny guy they have ever seen. The guy can play if healthy. That's a big IF though which is a shame. I've always liked him as a player. It's hard to feel too sorry for him cause the dude has made a ton of money and still is.

Yep, when it comes to raw football talent and IQ Bradford is a top 5 QB! When it comes to durability he's a glass doll.
I don't know about top 5 talent. He never had a winning record as a starter. Eventually the blame has to come down to the QB not getting it done. I was against the trade at the time, due to his injury history, but also he just has never gotten it done.
