Yep, that's gross. That's a bad deal in my estimation.

What's a few extra million though right?!?! Lol Bumgarner taking less clearly makes this deal look really bad. I don't think I see it as a value deal overall. Just to compare tho Gibson got 3-30 and while Keuchel isn't the guy he once was I think it's fair to say he has a better track record and worth more than Gibson especially depending on the rest of your roster (infield defense). I'm blanking on what they have for starters outside of Giolito. I'm perfectly fine on them passing on that deal for Dallas K.

Honestly Monster theres a case where Gibson outpiched Kuechel last year based on advance metrics. Kuechel has 4.76 FIP and Gibson had 4.3 FIP

Yeah that's fair. It's also worth remembering Keuchel came in and pitched without the typical spring training etc. Pitching is a pretty inexact science and that's why team pay and fans clamor for the guys that if they are healthy you know they are gonna be pretty good.

David Price is going to be a Minnesota Twins isn't he... Hmm. Assuming the Red Sox eat most of that $96-million owed and the Twins don't have to send much of anything in prospects, that would be a savvy get. Hopefully that would come on the heels of adding Josh Donaldson.

Nick Gordon and filler porbablty get that number down to around 55-60 million. Just need to remember the better prospect you give up the more salary the Red Sox eat. I rather have Sale than price, his veloity was down last year but we've seen that it doesnt matter who the pitcher is Wes Johnson can get 2 more mph on there fastball.

I would also prefer Chris Sale, but I think the price tag on him as far as prospects go is much higher and Boston is more likely to let Price go for less. Depending on how much money the Red Sox eat and who the Twins have to give up, either of them could be decent pickups. At this point, it's not like Minnesota has a tremendous amount of options.

I saw some reports about the Red Sox being willing to cut salary and deal Price. Are they really pretty much looking to give him away if someone just takes him? How much do you guys feel like he is worth at this point? This seems like a possible good use of the money they have to spend. If they have to give up a prospect that isn't exactly big time to get it done I'm probably on board.

Can't wait for them to finish 81-81 this year. Most overblown team this year. The only reason why they have a chance of winning more than 81 is because the play in the central. Btw early vegas polls have them at 80.5 for the over under win total.

The White Sox won 72 games last year its not like getting above .500 is some Really massive jump. If they haven't lost anyone they certainly have made some nice additions. If people are saying (haven't paid attention other than this board lol) they are gonna win 95 or 100 games then sure that's overblown but they could easily be a .500 or a little better team which is good.

People have them winning the division and winning 90+ games. What are these nice additions besides Grandal which he's upgrade at position they were already strong in with McCann.
Mazar is okay nothin special. Kuechel and Gio are not that much upgrades in there rotation. Enccarcion eventually is going to drop off a cliff and not be able to hit anymore. My point is it's hard to add wins but there people in mlb network having them winning the division.

Even if the Twins didn't make any more moves via free agency or trade, and the offense regressed ever so slightly, that team is still capable of 95 or more regular season wins, especially considering how weak the bottom of the division is. They'd just get absolutely pummeled in the playoffs.

Also, there might be a perfect storm brewing -- Braves coveting a Nolan Arenado or Kris Bryant trade rather than give four years to Josh Donaldson -- where the Twins are able to sign Donaldson and the offense is even better than it was last year, as silly as that is to think about. Donaldson would be a massive upgrade to C.J. Cron in the lineup while also turning third base into a defensive strength that Miguel Sano could not.

We also have to play the waiting game when it comes to trades as there are a number of wildcard teams that could sell pieces before Spring Training -- specifically the Rockies and the Red Sox as well as the Pirates and Tigers.

So, while I understand your angle, I have to disagree for the above reasons. I would be absolutely shocked if the Twins won less than 90 games in 2020 even with the roster as it stands right now.

One of the weaknesses of the team early on was the Pen. Down the stretch it was terrific so maybe they aren't that good but its probably a better group to start the season than last year if say Duffy is actually for sorta real as a legit MLB reliever...it could end up being a regular season strength. If this team isn't wildly ravaged by injuries then yeah I agree with Cam they are going to still be pretty good and also like Cam said there is still plenty of opportunity to improve the roster both in the offseason and in season.

If Buxton can stay healthy and Sano can up his power numbers a lil bit more it might be enough to counter act the likelihood that some of these guys numbers are going to come down a tick. If that happens I'm in agreement with you guys. Still, like we've all mention before, that rotation has to get stronger. Otherwise we'll find ourselves getting swept by the Yankees yet again.
