Our median predicted win total is now 40. Over the past 5 seasons, our predictions here have averaged 8 more wins than the actual total. So if this year runs true to course, PorkChop can light his victory cigar with his 32 win prediction.

But maybe this will be the year that our median projection turns out to not be so overly optimistic. Come on, don't we deserve it for once??????

For what it's worth, both Dane Moore and Britt Robson predicted them to win 38-44 games and hang around the conversation for a bottom seed or play-in game.

Dane said something on one of his most recent podcast that this team isn't built "seriously". He was basically lamenting the same thing a bunch of us have been lamenting - the lack of size; no obvious starting PF; dead in the water if Naz or KAT go down for a long stretch, etc.

The good news is finding more size and muscle upfront with some semblance of skills should not be THAT difficult and hopefully it will finally be addressed between now and this time next year.

I think the roster has been mostly built on talent acquisition. Also according to a recent tweet Dane said Rosas was very much against playing anyone big other than Towns or whoever played behind him as a C. Like you said Q I think it's very likely they address adding some size at some point in the next 12 months. Finch has seemed much more open to that concept and that's much more than it sounds like Rosas was if what Dane tweeted (and what seems fairly likely) so I can see some changes coming at some point. Of course Simmons if it happened would ago likely represent a size upgrade.

FiveThirtyEight also has the Wolves going 40-42 this year with a 40-percent chance of making the playoffs and winding up as the 10th-seed. Not saying that's a guarantee of anything, but it's another prediction in the 40-range. It's not just us homers here on the board that see talent on Minnesota's roster.

Yeah, Simmons isn't exactly the archetype of "bruiser" that we sometimes think about as a need, but he is so unique in his combination of length, mobility, and skill defensively that he'd check the box along with a few others.

But putting Simmons aside, I'd still prefer finding a pure Center that can help defend the paint, absorb fouls, and be a great screen setter on offense. Again, this should be obtainable and affordable at some point.
