Not so fast, FNG. Las Vegas will be fine. They were off by five games or more on 12 out of 30 teams -- 40-percent (!) -- in the league last year. Projecting win totals has always been hard work, but there's more talent in today's NBA than ever before, which only makes the oddsmakers jobs more difficult. If Minnesota does indeed outperform their line, as I expect they will, they won't be the only team to do so. But at the end of the day the house always wins. :)

LOL-that is a truism...Vegas will survive!

45 wins assuming they don't deal for Simmons. Likely would be slightly higher if we do get him, but would depend on what we give up.

Earlier last month I summarized the board's predicted wins totals vs actual for the past 5 years (ignoring the Covid season where we only won 19 games). For the 5 years, the Wolves actual wins were 7.6 fewer than the average prediction here.
As of today, our average prediction is 40 wins. The original Vegas line was 33.5 wins (I believe it might have gone up to 34.5, perhaps due to the slight possibility of a Simmons acquisition), so it looks like we are only 6.5 games higher than the opening Vegas line. Still overly optimistic, but perhaps getting a little bit wiser?

Just wait until 60WinTim weighs in with his prediction and then you may want to re-calculate!

I have to go with 36 as well.
The west is no joke, and we are not there yet as a team.

I really want to say 60 for my namesake! But I will settle for being on top of TheSP and say 51.
There are so many reasons why the Wolves could have a REALLY good year. Cam listed most of them, not the least of which is our coaching staff and a defensive scheme that looked really good last night. Prince may turn out to be the cog that really puts us in the 50 to 60 win range. He was a sharp shooter last night, Dane says he hits 90% of his 3s in practice, and the story of his career path to the Wolves and recovery from an ankle injury suggests he could have a pretty spectacular season!
I really like what Rosas accomplished in re-making this roster and coaching staff. It's too bad he won't be around to reap the rewards, but he has left Gupta in pretty good shape!

And here Abe wanted that all to himself. 36 wins it is.

Nice! One-upping TheSP....love it!
A lot has to go right - nearly perfect health, massive defensive turnaround from a decade of incompetence, improvement from the 2nd and 3rd year guys, etc. to hit 51 wins, but I don't think it's batshit crazy.
