It will be interesting to see who the Iowa Wolves acquire to play PG this season. I also think it's possible Lawson doesn't play a ton in Iowa.

I wonder how much Wendell Moore Jr. might play in Iowa given the Timberwolves current situation at the wing spots. He could end up playing some point in the G-League.

Yeah that thought crossed my mind as well. Still it seems likely they would want to add a guy that would be available to play there all season. It's possible it doesn't matter much as none of the Wolves players actually spend a majority of their season there. If they really want to develop Moore as a PG that might be a good way to do it although he did do it at Duke but of course it would be good to get more experience and do it in the Wolves system.

I'll also add that it seems that the rules for who is eligible for a 2-way must have been expanded at some point with the rule changes due to Covid. I think that's a good thing. There were guys that previously weren't eligible for a 2-way deal because they were just good enough to have been on 2-ways and/signed to part of a season for 3 years but never really made it and were still fringy NBA players but still had some promise. There are younger guys deserving of a shot too but I think it's good that guys with 3 years of NBA experience can sign. Some guys like that are kinda just getting their careers going. Paschall feels like a guy that probably shouldn't be signing a 2-way deal but good teams will sign guys that are more established if they can and for the Wolves it's not like they have a roster full of vet players. Knight or Minott could easily be the 2-way player instead.

One thing to consider for Paschall signing a 2-way is that he may have thought there was a real chance he wasn't going to be on an NBA roster this year. As a 2-way player he gets around $500,000 and also with the wolves being a good team even if he doesn't play in the playoffs as a 2-way guy he would still likely get some financial benefit of a possible deep playoff run. Meanwhile just being on an NBA roster means another year of service time and that means even if he just signed a vet min deal next year and the year after they etc he would get paid a little more each year because the vet min is based on NBA service time. I think it's also reasonable to conclude he wanted to be with the Wolves. In a round about way we even could sorta include him as a guy we received back in the Gobert trade because we sent a lot of guys that way and that filled up some roster spots plus Utah is likely going to add even more players when they trade Mitchell. Getting Paschall on a 2-way deal instead of getting him back in a trade is a good piece of work. In addition it also means the Wolves still have that over 4 million trade exception which could come in handy at some point.

Timberwolves PR: "Minneapolis/St. Paul - The Minnesota Timberwolves today announced the team has signed forward Eric Paschall to a two-way contract. Per team policy, terms of the agreement were not released.

Paschall, 6-6, spent last season with the Utah Jazz where he averaged 5.8 points on 48.5% shooting and 1.8 rebounds per game in 58 games (three starts)."

The former Villanova star began his career as the 41st overall pick in the 2019 NBA Draft by the Golden State Warriors.

During his rookie season, he averaged 14.0 points, 4.6 rebounds and 2.1 assists per contest.

He also made the All-Rookie Team as a second-round pick, which is always a phenomenal accomplishment for late draft picks.

After playing two seasons for the Warriors, he was traded to the Utah Jazz where he spent last season.

He is now joining a Timberwolves team that is clearly on a very large upward trajectory.

Probably good for his development if that happens, like the idea Cam.
