Josh Richardson scored 27 points in a Miami win over the Bulls tonight. Although Covington scored only 7 points, he did have 5 steals and played his typical terrific defense today against the Nets.

Hmm...I wonder who JRich was matched up against? I'm thinking I might be able to still go off for 20 against Zach...well, at least if my shot were dropping :). Wig has been dreadful the past 5 games, shooting only 37%. Being guarded by Zach might be just what he needs to score 30 tonight.

So far this season, Richardson is averaging 20.5 points. He's shooting 44.5% from the field and and 43.7% from behind the arc. He's also averaging 85% from the line on 3.7 attempts per game. LaVine must have been guarding him all season so far. :). Looking at Wiggins' stats this season, LaVine will have to play on one leg tonight for Wiggins to have a shot a at 30 points.

Yep, it's a good night for Zach when he can hold his man to within 7 points of his per game average...didn't work out as well a couple weeks ago against Klay. Wig has been struggling on offense for awhile, but a night playing against The Matador is just what the doctor ordered!

I don't think it matter who is covering wiggs.

There are only 2 people stopping wiggs right now, himself and thibs.

Nobody talking about Lavine shooting 30% from 3 this year?

Yeah, and 19% in his last 5. And only 34% last year. Who knows if he is still (and maybe always will be) suffering from the effects of his knee injury, or whether he's not up to being the #1 offensive option. Whatever it is, he's really struggling...poor 3-point shooting and defense, and way too many turnovers. Let's hope he doesn't turn things around tonight.

Josh Richardson appears to continue playing really well. Cam, do you still think we over-hyped him?

I'm not disappointed with the Covington/Saric pairing the least bit, but it does appear Richardson is the best player mentioned in the various scenarios discussed.

Wow, Cleveland going take down Houston now too. That's a couple of big wins by them.

Wolves might be the only favored team to win tonight.

I mean he's putting up stats on a sub .500 team. Lavine is putting up stats on a really bad Chicago team. Meanwhile it seems Covington and Saric have played big roles in turning our defense around. Sometimes getting winners over stat guys is a better move.

You do realize the other 7-10 guys you're playing with matter too, no? When Richardson is on the floor, Miami is a plus team.

And I'm not even complaining about RoCo/Saric. I'm good with the trade. I'm just saying Richardson is the best player we could have gotten, but it meant taking on a bad contract, etc. I get it.

You're basing your stats on good stats on bad team guys though. Richardson is a good player, but it can be argued Covington's defensive impact on our team is greater than what Richardson could give us on both sides of the ball. A number 1 option on a bad team doesn't equal a top 2-3 option on a good team. I'm just saying take some of those stats with a grain of salt. Everyone sees these numbers and just assumes that's what they'll look like regardless of situation and that's not how it works. He comes here with Teague running the offense as the number 3-4 option and he'd just look a lot different from the number 1 option he is in Miami. Meanwhile Covington continues to thrive as a transformative role player.

Those numbers are amazing, Khans! I always loved Butler's work on defense, but at least in this small sample size, RoCo is just that much better. And when you add Saric into the deal, it becomes close to grand theft larceny.

Jason Richardson plays defense also. Is he as good as Covington? Probably not be he has a pretty good reputation. The arguement is whether or not he is the best player we could have gotten in a trade. I think that's likely. However in a few months we may be looking at Saric as a similar type player to Richardson in terms of value as a starter while having Covington who is a high level starter himself and...those guys will be making a significant amount less than the Miami package that it will alllow the Wolves to sign at least one worthwhile player in FA. Maybe Richardson was worth the hype relatively speaking but Covington and Saric were seemingly well underrated when this deal was done. I'm glad we have both guys. I think it was the best deal we could have done.

Yeah, I'm not disparaging JRich at all, but he's not in the same league defensively with Rob. To pick up two players like Rob and Dario with no bad contracts attached was nothing short of brilliant. Thibs and Butler frustrated me throughout the entire process, but you can't rationally argue with the results.
