I'm two months from now I could realistically see Okogie being part of one of our best lineups to close games because of his versititly defensively. I get his shooting percentage isn't great, and often looks like the game is moving a bit fast for him right now. I'd like to see Tibs let him play through that now over limited upside players such as Tyus and Gorgui.
Fair take....I'm not against Okogie being in the rotation, but I'm really not sure how much he would have helped specifically in the Memphis game where scoring points seemed to be our biggest problem.
I dont see the harm in Okogie coming in for 5 minutes just to infuse some much needed energy. The grizz just packed the paint last night and had a block party. Kat and wiggs were met by 3 grizzlies every time. The pace and space we were running with teague the previous 3 games was non existent.

Tolliver has been probably the worst player in the rotation. Defense atrocious, rebounding meh, anything other than 3's? nope. If he isn't hitting his 3's he is just a good teammate hype man who gives a lot of energy while people drive by him for easy buckets
But if he gets hot, its a game changer. And thats what hes here for.

Yeah, I'm with Sab on this one. I was in favor of Thibs picking up Tolliver in the offseason because we needed the 3-point shooting, but the addition of Saric logically pushed him out of the rotation...he's basically Saric (very) light, and there's no reason for him to be on the court if Gibson and Saric are both healthy. Tolliver is a great guy and teammate, but there's a good reason he has played for 12 teams in his 11 years...he's just not good enough.
I'm in the minority, I think Tolliver can serve a useful role. Again would rather see him play with Saric in most lineups in place of Gorgui. Would help the spacing, and playing with a big who hits the open man would help Tolliver a lot. I know most will disagree.

Let's see a team that actually plays a smaller players off the bench and see if Tolliver gets minutes then. I think more teams basically play a center type off the bench than people realize. Sometimes it would make sense to play Tolliver but I also think playing Dieng im those sistatuons isn't all bad either. Next up Denver plays Mason plumblee in a similar rotation role to Dieng. Can anyone believe that they gave up Nurkic AND a 1st round pick to get him? I like him but...
I agree with you Tolliver can be very useful and I think he will end up on the court at times. It's worth noting he was taking some of Taj's minutes before the trade.

Putting Okogie in for 5 minutes just does nobody any good. Especially doing it off the bench. That's just an unfair thing to do and expect him to give you a good 5 minutes out there. If he's not in the first rotation of subs he shouldn't see the court unless it's garbage time. To do anything else just puts him in a position to fail.
I agree Kahns, I'm not advocating playing as in spot opportunities. I'm in the camp that thinks a few minutes from him against Memphis would of changed that game. I think he should be in the 9-10 man rotation.

I agree. A regular 5-minute cycle in the rotation for Okogie would be a bad idea. But he should have been inserted into the Memphis game for at least 5 minutes to see if he could change the dynamic and energize a lifeless team. If successful, then he would have likely played 15 minutes. Ultimately, he needs to be part of our 9-10 man rotation. And that's not because I'm overvaluing his play to date. It's because I recognize the value he brings to the table and, more importantly, his potential.

Isnt that the case with everybody in the NBA? Of course if a guy gets hot they're a game changer, can Tolliver do that in 5-10 minutes? He's not Steph Curry
