Still not a ton of volume, but his 3 point shooting MIGHT be real. That would be kind of crazy if he and KAT ended up being a modern day version of twin towers that can both shoot the 3.....long ways off from that, I know....

Long ways to go for sure but it would be awesome in theory. Especially when he is supposed to be a great roller in the PnR.
But like you said long ways to go.

Agreed long ways to go but encouraging. He did take 15 threes in college and made 8 of them. That's a very small sample but him making 3's hasn't just come out of absolutely nowhere. His vast improvement at the FT line shooting over 80% so far is a promising development for him as a player and projecting his ability to hit jumpers. I'm still most impressed with his potential as a passer.

Yeah, he is definitely skilled when you look at some of the things he can do at his size in terms of passing, poking away balls for steals, and showing some nice touch.
That being said, I still think he plays kinda soft. He isn't a poor rebounder, but I would expect him to be getting more given his size. Same thing on free throw attempts. For a guy with his height advantage that rolls to the hoop a lot, I would expect him to be getting to the foul line more. I think he settles a lot for "touch" type shots versus power moves around the rim. Thus his FG% for a big man and free throw rate are kinda weak.
I remember I always thought Aldridge was a softie because he settled for so many mid-range jumpers and wasn't a great rebounder, despite his very good length and athleticism coming out of college. Both those things still apply today, BUT he became very solid defensively over the years as he put on weight and learned about positioning. This is what we need to happen with Patton!

Apparently Patton hurt his foot last night and left the game

I agree I thought Aldridge was soft too although obviously a good player. He still utilizes his jumper slot but has transitioned much more to a power game. At 32 he is having one of the best seasons of his career and probably one of the most valueable bigs in the league on a really good team. I'm not a big fan of his or anything but I'm a basketball fan and I kinda like that he and the Spurs and Pop all got on the same page.
As for Patton I think some of his softness and stuff you mention is left over from him still playing like a guard and probably some from coming back from the injury. You get both good and bad from him being a former guard. We will see how he progresses.
Re: Iowa Wolves thread
Does anyone know the status of Patton's recent injury?

Foot contusion, same foot as the surgery. They feared worse when he left the game. Seems like a week or 2 injury based on a Google search

Well, that sucks. He was starting to string some nice games together and they were gradually ramping up his minutes. Ugh!
