Re: Predict Love's team for 2014-15
I wouldn't mind that Golden State deal at all, lip, but I think it's unlikely. I was in the Bay Area Memorial Day weekend for the Twins/Giants series, and at a party Saturday a trio of long-term Warriors season ticket holders asked me what the current Love situation was. I told him that the Warriors were a hot rumor, with Love going there in exchange for Lee, Thompson and Barnes. Their response: laughter! When they stopped laughing, one of them said "I don't think you understand how popular Klay is with Warriors' fans. Including him in a deal for a guy who can't lead his team to the playoffs would cause a revolt in the season ticket base...not happening."
Granted, a very small sample of Warriors' ticket holders. But the strength of their answer was enough to get me to forget about Thompson.

Long -- I don't think the Warriors front office gives a hoot how much fans like Thompson. They want to win a championship and they'll do what it takes to make that happen. I know a Warriors fan/season ticket holder and he told me he thinks the only untouchable player on that roster is Curry. A lot of people were surprised they fire Mark Jackson, but they did. Just another sign that the Warriors' front office is action-oriented, and getting a bit impatient with the status quo. I could be wrong, but I think a deal with the Warriors involving Klay Thompson will ultimately be on the table. I suspect that the Wolves would have to include Kevin Martin as well. I don't think we'd get both Barnes and Draymond Green. I think it would be one or the other. The deal looks really good for the Warriors:
Front Line: Love, Bogut, Iggy
Guards: Curry and Martin
Depth: Barnes or Green, etc.

I don't think we need to give up Martin in this trade he scores more than Klay, and he makes a lot less money (when Klay Resigns), Klay is a lot better on D. Martin is to good to be just a throw in. I could see us throwing in Bud/Brewer to help the Warriors depth issue, but Martin IMO is way to good to just be a throw in, in any trade, he would be a great sixth man on this team if we trade with the Warriors. If we drafter Stauskas, we would have some decent shooters on the the team then

I desperately hope we don't deal with the Warriors if it results in us getting Lee. Lee is like Boozer at this point in time. Can put up decent numbers, but when the game is on the line they are each unplayable because of the liability they are on the defensive end. With two years left on his deal at 15+ million a year, I want no part of that contract. Not even to get Klay and Barnes especially when the rumors are that Klay's agent is starting at the max salary because of how he compares to the rest of the SG crop in the league. It's just not worth it. If you can get a third team involved to take on Lee's horrible contract, I'm all in, but I doubt that team exists. I think Love stays because Flip is thinking in his best interests as a coach and doesn't want to rebuild instead of thinking in the best interest of the franchise and start the rebuild now before your star leaves for nothing and you lose a year of needed high draft picks to start over.

Ideally it would be Atlanta, but it will probably be Chicago

Ideally it'd be Atlanta? I hope you're not serious.

Geek -- Good points. I'd be fine dealing someone other than Martin. Actually, my preference would be Luc.

I hope you're right, lip, because I think I'm on board with most deals that include Thompson...although I don't think I would want to include Martin in there also. For me it would have to be something like Love and two contracts we don't want (Luc and JJ?) for Lee, Thompson, and either Barnes or Green. While we lose Love's incredible production, we pick up some guys we know can play and unload some players we don't need or want. And although we don't know how much of a negative Love's narcissism is in the locker room, I sense that subtracting him improves our team chemistry. Also, Lee only has two more years left on his big contract.
I do think that there would be initial unhappiness in the GS season ticket base if Klay were dealt, but that would all be forgotten if the addition of Love could take them deeper in the playoffs. I don't make the deal though if I'm the Warriors, as I don't see it improving them. We can hope though.

We've been disagreeing a lot as of late. What's the deal, LST!?
Two years at $30M. Could be worse, of course, but that is really ugly. Guess we suck it up and play him out.
You wouldn't make the deal if you're Golden State? That makes zero sense to me. The current group they have aren't winning the West, but for 31-year old Lee ($15M per), Thompson (rumor is he'll ask for max contract) and spare parts they could get a top-10 player in the NBA who's just 25 years old. Are you kidding me? Curry, Love, Iguodala and Bogut in the same lineup. Superstar league right now. Curry and Love is much stronger than Curry, Thompson and Lee.
I also don't think this is the deal to "hope" for. I'd rather have a package from Cleveland, Chicago and Boston the more I think about it.

I would take Horford over ANYTHING that's been offered in any made up deal
