Jimmy Butler Trade Ideas
Re: Jimmy Butler Trade Ideas
In a recent interview, Pat Rilely said Miami needs to target finishing 3, 4 or 5 in the East. Right now, Miami is in 7th place, ahead of Detroit. They have Charlotte, Indiana, Philadelphia and Boston in the 6, 5, 4 and 3 spots respectively. Dealing Richardson and Bam for Butler would likely push Miami up to 6th over Charlotte with a chance to compete with Indiana and perhaps Philadelphia for 5th and 4th.

Let's say Butler wasn't available. Pat Riley would likely be saying they should be pushing for those spots. Is Charlotte for real? Miami has been playing much of the season without some key contributors. Those comments could mean something...or they could mean nothing...at this point. Much like the Wolves another 5-10 games from now could impact how the season is viewed.

Rozier is one of the most overrated players in the league and I still don't understand why.
I would join you in moving on to another team. A deal like that would be probably be the worst deal in Wolves history - and that's saying something!!
I don't disagree on Rozier as a headliner. I think I would be more interested in a deal for Rozier hoping his game from the playoffs was more real IF he was signed to a longer term deal already. Even if that was the case I would want more back but yeah. I won't be shocked if some team like the Suns come in and offer him 20 million or something like that next offseason. I'd have to have seen something from him this year over a long period of time before being in on that type of money. He would make some sense next to Bledsoe as a PG but the Suns have all those young wings.
I think one reason why Rozier gets overrated is people assume he is a 2 way player. I'm not sure about his defense. I'd say he is a positive on that end which is a plus. How much of one? Idk his offense? I agree it's overrated at this point because of what he did in the playoffs. It will be interesting to see how Ainge Navigates this one.
Also I don't think Ainge seems that interested in adding Butler so this is just something to talk about.

I agree, I don't see Ainge giving up young assets for Butler. He's eyeing Anthony Davis.

What are we waiting for? If they keep Butler all year and let him walk in FA I am done with this team.

I think Rozier gets moved soon.
That team just doesn't have it yet. Too many cooks? It looks like Irving is trying to set the tone and be THE guy in recent games. That's actually probably a good thing.
Rozier is a decent player who is looking to "get his" soon via a shiny new big contract. The sacrifice your stats for the good of the team angle an be a tough sell for a guy in that position.

The Celtics do have a mess of guys that don't necessarily distinguish themselves much offensively once you get past Irving. But man, does defense cover up a lot of sins. They are #1 in defense. Horford, Smart, Baynes....three really key guys in this regard.
Re: Jimmy Butler Trade Ideas
It's weeks away but after reading an article of the power rankings of NBA dysfunction on the Athletic (we were #1!!! What do we get a bonus!?!? That would be sweet.) it made me think the Lakers might get in on Butler then. The article said that Magic isn't going to be as patient as he says he is. Like Walton is likely on the hot seat already and Lebron is about to turn 34. Why haven't we heard from the Lakers yet? To even get in the conversation they would have to include Ingram and Ball just for salalry cap purposes and they would still have to throw in some more players. I'd guess Ingram is pretty close to untouchable but even if he wasn't I doubt they would give him and a bunch of other assets for Butler. If Ingram isn't included do the Lakers have enough to make a deal? Idk. Josh Hart looks like a guy that would be a nice supporting piece and he is cheap. Ball makes a bunch of money and is flawed but he is a pretty big PG and he actually plays defense. Kyle Kuzma can score. He worries me though the way he carries himself at times.
I guess the real point here is that the Lakers are a team that at some point could get in on a Butler deal if this drags out a few more weeks. Even if they don't offer up something super amazing they could still help get offers up. Supposedly people don't want to play with Lebron. I'd guess the Lakers if the price was right the May make an offer to give it a whirl.

Give me Ball, Josh Hart and whatever filler to get it done. I don't need Ingram. We already have too many skinny dudes to add Ingram.
