Wasn't it reported that Glen instructed Thibs to focus on his coaching duties while he and Layden worked on trading Butler?

Yep, that was the report Cool. But it's hard to know what's going on in that dysfunctional organization at 600 First Avenue.

It's not a report you can read exactly what Glen said in the interview with Sid of the Startribune or Listen to Glen lay it out on Wolfson's podcast today. Lol

That's right, Monster. I forgot that Glen actually said it. :) Yes, dysfunctional is the word. The question is whether Thibodeau has to approve any deal or whether he's established the parameters for any deal. The whole thing is weird to say the least.

No new rumors, Cool. I really want this to end. It's long past time to move on from Butler.
Houston, miami, and philly have generally been in most rumors.
We know what Houston's offer was.
We know what miamis offer was.
But no offer leaks from philly?
Still the same report from Woj that Thibodeau's asking price remains too steep. No telling what that means exactly. If it means Thibodeau will only deal Butler to Houston if all four picks are unprotected, then I think Thibodeau's position is reasonable. But if it means he won't deal Butler to Philly for Covington, Saric, and a couple picks unless the Sixers also include Fultz or is otherwise insisting on Simmons instead, then Thibodeau is being ridiculous. I recall a much earlier report that said Thibodeau's price for Philly was Simmons or Fultz. But I haven't seen any recent Philly rumors other than reports that the Sixers are in the mix.
This is a good flow of thinking Lip. I've been thinking along some of these lines as well the past few hours.
We keep hearing Thibs doesn't want to trade Butler. We all can agree that on some level that's absolutely true. Heck even though some of us KNOW that is what has to happen we kinda don't want to do it. So Thibs...I think it's fair if he values Butler highly. Now if Thibs basically is sitting there diffing in and basically doesn't want to trade him period...that's the problem. We can speculate but we don't know. Let's give him a little benefit of the doubt that he wants a fair deal/good deal before letting him go.
lets be honest about some of these rumored deals/offers. They aren't that great. Richardson (unless you think he is going to turn into a 3rd best player on a championship team type guy) and a 1st plus having to pay 20 million for another 3 years for 2 roster spots 1 in Waiters that's basically dead weight (fat!). It's honestly not THAT good. If we weren't taking back a bunch of salary it would be pretty good but that's not the case. Is Thibs holding out for an unreasonable deal? Maybe. Is it possible that he is holding out for a deal that's better than a rental for a pretty good player? I can't blame him if he is.
Hell the freaking Lakers basically got a first round pick for dumping Jordon Clarkson (has talent but is overpaid) and the enormously awesome Larry Nance. (Lakers fleeced the Cavs Namce isn't even starting for the injured Kevin Love) Look back at 2017 trade deadline. What OKC got for Ibaka or the Sixers getting a 1st for Noel. Some of these deals we have seen simply aren't freaking good enough for Butler right now even as a rental especially with us taking on money. Based on what we know right now of the offers we know about...you can see why Thibs doesn't want to trade Butler. These deals aren't particularly good for the organization. Is having Butler here good for it? No but taking some of these deals isn't either. Hell when you consider we dealt Rubio for a first round pick and took back zero money...these deals are shit. Why are they crappy? Teams can't deal a bunch of players and that's why waiting isn't the worst thing ever...in terms of the return.
Also Anthony Davis is resting tonight. It seems possible that Butler's rest and day off was actually legit and agreed on by both him and the Wolves and wasn't some part of the demand to be traded. Butler pisses me off right now but that scenario actually doesn't seem that far fetched.

It's not that weird. Layden has been the point guy during the season fielding calls etc the previous 2 years so why wouldn't he be doing that now? It's honestly even not really news.

Yes, Layden has been the guy fielding calls, but Glen's comment seemed to suggest something different. In any event, The whole internal dynamic with Taylor getting involved is weird.

Well, there's still a nonzero possibility that Butler remains a Wolf all season... and that Thibs signs him to a max deal, causing Lip's head to actually explode
Re: Jimmy Butler Trade Ideas
Fun question which fan base hates their coach more right now Wolves or Raiders? Lol
