If it came down to those two, I think Flip would take Towns. I'd be happy with either.

Russel seems more in the Westbrook/Curry vein to me than having a bunch of skills that put Wiggins way out of position. I think size/athleticism at the 4 is still our greatest need but I would be pretty excited to throw Russell in the mix here and could see a bunch of lineups that would work with him.
Westbrook I don't see, unless you're just talking about mindset. I do see some Steph curry in Russell though. Would be a tough pill to swallow if he comes anywhere close to Curry's status and we passed on him.
Luckily for me, I see him picked #2. I'm with LST in the thinking that we are picking closer to #5 than #1.
My comment about Westbrook and Curry as more of the unconventional PG/SG hybrid with a talent for scoring at a high rate and able to take over games completely. Westbrook and Curry are really not the same player but pose some of the same positives to a team as well as issues about fit at position. Although Curry is quickly erasing all of those worries.

You think the Lakers take mudiay even with his season ending ankle injury in china? From what I've read, he's not playing any ball til next NBA season.
We are going to get Okafor. And if for some strange reason we don't, I want the best NBA basketball player when we pick. And I would rank them in this order:

Johnson's a scrub, huh?
Did I say that? Haven't seen enough of him, so I'm going by reports. I'll have a better idea after watching him in March.
I'd be fine with Mudiay any spot after 1. The second unit guys could benefit from a guy who attacks the basket instead of settling for jumpers. It's be nice to have a guy with starter potential to backup Ricky so if Ricky goes down again we aren't rolling with a guy who just isn't fit to be a starter (hence why Flip tried Lavine over Mo originally). He has good size to play some 2. He's going to need time to adjust to the NBA game coming from China and high school with no college experience so coming off the bench will let him ease into the league. Worst comes to worse he becomes like Bledsoe and is too good to keep coming off the bench so you deal him for something that fits. If he grades higher than some other guys I take him regardless of not being the best fit.
