Interesting. I won't lie, it crossed my mind as a good idea if he's bought out, but I also know a vanishingly small amount about Beal's game.

What would he offer the Wolves, and at what price is that worth it?

My understanding is that he's not much of a PG, nor a good defender (disappointing, considering his measurables), but he would be another ball handler and 2nd side scorer.

Right, fair point — Towns isn’t even on the roster anymore since the Knicks trade. That actually makes the idea of adding Beal even more intriguing. With Ant as the clear #1 and Gobert anchoring the defense, Beal could slide in as a secondary scorer and veteran closer. The spacing might even improve without KAT clogging things inside. If they can make the finances work post-buyout, this could be one of the smarter late-offseason moves. As I said above, I don't know Beal's game all that much, however consensus opinion is not all that kind to him. I suspect that has more to do with his contract than his actual game, but either way, who is in place of? Is he off the bench, or is he in place of Randle?

As I said above, I don't know Beal's game all that much, however consensus opinion is not all that kind to him. I suspect that has more to do with his contract than his actual game, but either way, who is in place of? Is he off the bench, or is he in place of Randle?

I think he'd probably be in more of a sixth-man or secondary scorer role rather than replacing Randle outright. At this stage of his career, Beal seems better suited to giving the offense another reliable option when Ant is off the floor.

A lot depends on the contract situation too. The perception around Beal reminds me a bit of how people focus on bonus features rather than the overall value in other industries kind of like how players chase free spins in scatter pays slots while overlooking the rest of the game. With Beal, the contract has often overshadowed what he can still contribute on the court.

If the price is right, I could see him being a useful addition, but I wouldn't want to sacrifice too much depth to get him.

Without having watched Beal much the last couple years here is the what I can tell you.

He is a pretty efficient player and he has some pretty good assist numbers over the years. I don't view him as a bad guy that would create problems on a roster. The other issue is he has problems staying healthy. I'd guess he is still a starting level player or at worst a really good six man. Whatever team is getting him would be getting a pretty nice player for the money. If the Wolves didn't call and make a case for themselves what are they even doing with their lives? I'm not getting my hopes up.

So, does than mean Beal would start at PG for the Wolves?

Beal has missed an awful lot of games the past 5 or 6 years. Other than TC going big game hunting, I don't see a great fit for Beal in Minnesota. And I am not sure Beal would feel a great attraction for Minnesota.

I really don't see much momentum here.
