Okay, let's try this again...
The Jazz loss was a wakeup call. But the Bulls loss was an accumulation of just enough little things that didn't go in the Wolves favor (some self-inflicted). So, I am calling a mulligan off the 1st tee. The 18-par streak starts today. Pars or better from here on out! (a loss is a klu-errr bogie...)
Butler is out for the season. His temporary replacement, Kuminga, is out today, and maybe even the next game. The only caution I have is how the Wolves sometimes let go of the rope when opponents are missing key players. But I don't see that happening today -- the Wolves have not had a 5-game losing streak since the DLo era!
This revelation has me back in Lip's corner -- TC will not make an in-season trade involving our top 6 players. But I do believe the cavalry is coming. Between Mike's fall, Shannon's injury, and Dilly's lack of improvement, the bench poo-poo platter (thanks, Cam!) of Mike, Shannon, Dilly, Clark and Bones has been a real drag on the team. I lay odds that TC makes a move that injects a spark into the bench.

I truly think that Finch deserves much of the blame for his not wanting to adapt to younger players, but since I seem to keep blaming him, I can see how hard it is to change.

Yeah, you are not the only one to offer some Finch complaints this season. He is in the 2nd year of a four year contract. I think most of us view this version of the Wolves as ANT 1.5 (the KAT tenure was 1.0). ANT 2.0 is when the young guys, some here and some not, start displacing guys like Rudy, Mike and Randle. It seems that transition will happen over the next 2 to 3 years (Rudy is signed for 3 years, Randle is signed for 3 years with the last year a player option).
Assuming my math is right, the Finch and Rudy contracts end after the '27-28 season. ANT 2.0 should be in full swing by then. Will Finch be the coach for ANT 2.0? Good question.
I don't believe Finch will be replaced in season, so his tenure will be dependent on how successful the team is. Fortunately for Finch, the winning streak starts today!

It always seems like the Wolves have a hard time doing 2 things at once. Either we are developing players or trying to win. It may have something to do with the relative health of our top 7. Would be great to find a way to integrate the younger players at some point. Shannon's injury is tough on our bench as currently configured, as I think many of the posters here were hoping for the next step in his development and playing time. Would TC consider him as an addition instead of a trade, if he comes back soon?60WinTim wrote: ↑Sun Jan 25, 2026 11:31 amYeah, you are not the only one to offer some Finch complaints this season. Today's game, along with tomorrow will be a true fork in the road. Win both and not much happens on the trade front. Lose both...who knows if that is enough for TC to pull the trigger on a trade.

Almost feels like a must win back to back.
Re: A Mulligan of a Mulligan - Warriors at Wolves GDT
Ha, I see what you did there, DN!
I'll say the same things I said yesterday: I can't see the Wolves not getting up for a game against Draymond. Gobert especially dislikes Draymond, so I see him having a big game against a very short lineup. Tickets on stubhub are much cheaper today than yesterday, so I'm thinking about going...we'll see.
Re: A Mulligan of a Mulligan - Warriors at Wolves GDT
My biggest annoyance with Finch is when the team is getting cooked by Colin Gillespie or Keyonte George, etc. There is no evidence of an adjustment to stop that bleeding.
Re: A Mulligan of a Mulligan - Warriors at Wolves GDT
Adjustments hardly happen, the only times we have seen comebacks have more to do with effort and not changing the gameplan. It appears that Finch has a hard time with these ideas.

Very rare occasions, we put a lot more pressure with two on the ball on SGA last year in that big comeback win, and we've done it a few times to Devin Booker. But it's very rare Finch will change the plan to trap or double someone that is going off.

Line has jumped up in the last hour to 7 1/2...probably means that Steph is out.
