Yeah, if the bulls fans don't like coby, I am pretty sure we won't. Hope we stay away
Coby is one of the featured guys on their team as a starting guard and their leading scorer. I certainly don't think he's good enough to be a #1 guy either!
We have to re-imagine him in a context where he is on a contending team as the first guard off the bench and playing with much better players.
Remember when the much-maligned Andrew Wiggins was traded to Golden State? Suddenly he starts making more 3's, giving more effort defensively, and goes on to be a critical part in them winning a title. He no longer had to be the featured guy.
Role and expectation has so much to do with player perception. You could even make a similar argument about Julius, with him being able to shift into a different role that is more suited to his skill level
I’ve never liked Coby’s game dating back to his college days. I remember how relieved I was when Rosas passed on his in hte draft. Bulls fans love Giddy and Ayton. I don’t think Colby meshes well with a team concept style. I also think he tends to make bad decisions with the ball. His defense has also been historically bad. Giving up valuable assets for him on what can’t be guaranteed as anything more than a 1-year renter strikes me as the sort of dunderhead move previous Wolves regimes have repeatedly made. I honestly don’t think TC is interested in Coby.
I take TC at his word that he’s looking for glue guys to make teammates better or players to improve our non-Rudy defense, not solo shooters like Coby who are questionable defenders at best. I believe TC had interest in Ellis — a bona fide 3 & D guy. Obviously, a deal for Ellis never came to fruition, likely because TC stuck to his guns on what he was willing to give up. I just don’t think TC is going to give up Randle or Donte (and obviously not Ant, Jaden or Naz) unless it’s in exchange for Giannis. That means no blockbuster deal is likely because I don’t think we have the assets the Bucks would want. If they’re going to trade Giannis, they’re going to insist on multiple 1st round picks because trading Giannis means starting over from scratch.
I like the idea of signing Carter. I still think, however, that we’re going to end up with Tyus Jones.
Its been reported that Milwaukee has submitted counteroffers to teams. I gotta think TC started by offering up Julius and Rudy knowing what teams out there would offer pick capital for them and probably guys like Rob, Lenny and maybe TJ.
Milwaukee undoubtedly countered with the deal including some combination of Jaden, Naz and Joan.
I keep wondering where the actual line is for TC to actually trade Naz and especially Jaden who has been connected at the hip to Ant. I assume if Jaden were put into the deal then the Wolves will be getting some good return on top of Giannis or it won't happen.
If Giannis can put his thumb on the scale it could change everything.

Getting Tyus will mean a third team gets Rob or whoever the Wolves trade since Orlando is reportedly trying to steer clear of the 1st apron this season. Maybe the Wolves can walk away with an asset in that scenario.
If we go get someone at PG, shouldn't that person be clearly a better option than either Bones or Conley? Otherwise, why do it?
Jevon Carter and Tyus Jones both may have peaked a couple years ago. Not sure either one is worth getting unless somehow we unload Bones/Conley as part of a massive Giannis deal that we need to go find a "decent enough" option that can play 15 MPG.
"The most aggressive team in the West right now is the Minnesota Timberwolves. They are in the game for Giannis. I don't believe that their offers can outweigh the other offers, and I'm not even sure that Giannis is getting traded before Thursday. The Timberwolves are being aggressive. If they don't make what I would call a Hail Mary Giannis deal, I think they are aggressively looking to upgrade their backcourt."

Wow! I was not expecting the Wolves to still be in the Giannis race. Or maybe they are playing along to force another team, ie. the Warriors, pony up even more?
And "aggressively looking to upgrade their backcourt" suggests one of our top 6 could be on the table...

There is enough smoke here by credible reporters that Connelly is obviously in discussions with Milwaukee. I'm skeptical anything gets done ultimately, but I wonder what Connelly's logic is with this pursuit of Giannis, as obviously it would put a serious crimp in this season's theme of "continuity" with a coach that thrives on in-season continuity and whose teams always seem to struggle for 25+ games in integrating new players. And this is assuming Giannis can even play 25 more games this year with the calf strain!
The Timberwolves are gauging the trade value of Julius Randle and Naz Reid for a potential Giannis Antetokounmpo blockbuster.
Minnesota will likely need to surrender a package of Randle, Reid and Jaden McDaniels to satisfy the Bucks’ significant draft pick threshold for Giannis.
The Timberwolves remain one of the more aggressive teams in pursuit for Giannis, per Shams. Bucks have submitted counter offers over the weekend as the deadline approaches Thursday.
I remember comments coming out of Milwaukee that they might be more interested in a "re-tool" than a "re-build". A couple of factors would be not having control of some of there draft picks in the coming years, and Doc Rivers ain't interested in a "re-build".
This would work in TC's favor if Milwaukee were more interested in quality players than draft picks.
As for TC valuing Giannis over continuity? Well, the idea of pairing ANT and Greek Freak is pretty damn compelling!!
