I've only caught one of their games and know very little about the women's game, but Olivia Miles popped off the screen like Ricky Rubio used to in his early years.
The Lynx are on a heck of a roll right now.
One of the most impressive things is that as a rookie Reeve basically lets Miles do whatever she wants.
May be Reeve understands that a player with Olivia's particular skill-set needs a lot of creative license, meaning you take the good with the bad. I absolutely love pass-first PGs with some panache to their game. I know it's a dying breed in the NBA, so good to see it in a player like Miles (who I know can also get buckets).
And this is why I’ve sort of fallen in love with women’s basketball. Just so many unique ways to win. NBA for the most part is very repetitive in what teams are trying to do and the type of players that are successful.
Like the Lynx have a player named Courtney Williams. She is everything that analytics hate. Mid range jumper after mid range jumper. Micheal Grady called the game yesterday and he was laughing so hard on how many mid range jumpers Courtney was making (she finished with 30). And some of that is why I really enjoy woman’s basketball.
I don’t think here is a comp to Olivia Miles in the NBA currently. She is just so in control at all times. It is beautiful watching her brain work and determining what she can and can’t get away with. Her jump shot needs to come along though (she was good in college there).

Reeve can steal all the flowers from my garden if she wants.
Let's be honest, the WNBA is still light years away from the men's game as far as the way it's managed and covered. And that means that a few really smart people can stand out even more.
The Lynx are the pinnacle of WNBA basketball, in large part because they have smart people in charge who know what works and what doesn't. A completely revamped squad that just keeps churning out wins. It's really impressive. Hopefully, the rest of the league never catches up.
Good post. There are still just 15 teams and while I don't think there is 32 teams deep of talent like the NBA the game has grown drastically like the past 10-20 years. The recent expansion teams success have shown there is enough talent around and with legit WNBA salaries now there will be more international players coming which the Lynx look to be ahead of the curve there too. It just seems Reeve is good at finding certain players and getting the best out of them.
Essentially, the Red Auerbach of the modern-day women's game.

Do we own any first round picks next year beside our own? I'd like to see Hannah Hidalgo team up with Miles again.
They traded away the 2027 2nd round pick in the Carrington trade. Moving future draft picks in draft day or around the draft seems somewhat common in the WNBA so maybe they could make a move up.

They do not. I will say I love Hannah Hildalgo the player, I think she is a dog and is a stud (worried a little bit about her size at the WNBA level), with that said I would be stunned if Hannah and Olivia team up again. A lot of reports they do not like each other anymore. Hildalgo has been really vocal about her religious beliefs and not understanding homosexuality because of that. (I mean she goes to a Christian institution in Notre Dame coached by Jayden Ivey mom). A team with will be 3 top 5 picks (Citron, Miles, Hildalgo) and 3 other WNBA players didn’t even make the elite 8 because of team chemistry issues.
In my opinion every team is going to have different views on a team and it’s the coaches job to bring players from different backgrounds together for one common goal. With that said I don’t think Miles and Hannah will be teaming any time soon. But I adore both of their talents
