It was genuinely a relief to hear Britt today on Danes podcast echoing a sentiment I've had since the trade, and felt like I was going crazy as the only one who seemed to think this.
Paraphrasing but basically the wolves will be fine with a 1 center, 1 guard, 3 wing lineup but what will really make the difference like it did for the Spurs is if Ant and LaMelo play defense to the best of their ability or close to it. They don't have to be all world (tho Ant could), just cant slack off 60% of the time.
He put it really well, and better than my paraphrase, but it was nice hear

Bbbbbbut what if the other team has a guy who is 5 inches taller!?!?!? We can’t win a title without those 5 or 6 inches!AussieWolf3 wrote: ↑Fri Jul 17, 2026 9:16 pm It was genuinely a relief to hear Britt today on Danes podcast echoing a sentiment I've had since the trade, and felt like I was going crazy as the only one who seemed to think this.

It's been pretty funny because Dane would complain about how nonsensical our roster was with Randle and Rudy starting together and then having a 3rd big come off the bench in Naz that was more of a PF/SF than a PF/C. He was also an early proponent of Jaden playing the 4.AussieWolf3 wrote: ↑Fri Jul 17, 2026 9:16 pm It was genuinely a relief to hear Britt today on Danes podcast echoing a sentiment I've had since the trade, and felt like I was going crazy as the only one who seemed to think this.

Well, you got your wish Dane and now you are all worried about our lack of a PF!? What the hell??
He's also super tentative when it comes to Beringer and how it might be a big leap for him to backup Rudy. At what point CAN he start playing rotation minutes then Dane!? We're talking about 15-18 MPG max on most nights. It's not like we're asking him to take Naz's spot as a 6th man 25 MPG type player.
I didn't think Britt came off as completely unconcerned about the issue, but he seems to have a more balanced perspective.

I have seen enough from Jaden guarding up in the playoffs at certain points where he was really holding his own. Even against Jokic at times. I think he is vet enough now and savvy enough through experience he can be a plus defender at the 4 unlike his first 2 seasons when they tried it.Q-is-here wrote: ↑Fri Jul 17, 2026 9:52 pmIt's been pretty funny because Dane would complain about how nonsensical our roster was with Randle and Rudy starting together and then having a 3rd big come off the bench in Naz that was more of a PF/SF than a PF/C. I actually think Lyles is a good fit with other starters as a low usage 4 that can hit threes and has a high rebound rate. I feel the 1 pg, 1 C, 2 wing lineup should get a good amount of bandwidth for this team and can be successful but I'd still like one more rebounder on the roster.Q-is-here wrote: ↑Fri Jul 17, 2026 9:52 pmIt's been pretty funny because Dane would complain about how nonsensical our roster was with Randle and Rudy starting together and then having a 3rd big come off the bench in Naz that was more of a PF/SF than a PF/C. After watching several of his games in europe after the signing, compared to where he was at in the nba a few years earlier, i agree. Hopefully he plays the same way and almost as aggressive. And he could end up being the steal of the offseason.Phenom wrote: ↑Fri Jul 17, 2026 10:47 pmI actually think Lyles is a good fit with other starters as a low usage 4 that can hit threes and has a high rebound rate. I like Dane but sometimes he has takes I very much disagree with. He and Britt are a good duo because they often balance each other out.Mnwild1128 wrote: ↑Fri Jul 17, 2026 11:32 pmAfter watching several of his games in europe after the signing, compared to where he was at in the nba a few years earlier, i agree. Their episodes are usually must listen for me. The juxtaposition of their ages combined with their mutual respect and love of the game makes for really really insightful conversation.Monster wrote: ↑Fri Jul 17, 2026 11:41 pmI like Dane but sometimes he has takes I very much disagree with. I don't listen to Dane cause he tells me what I want to hear, I listen because he thinks a lot about the game and ask a lot of questions.

That's a good way of putting it, and I didn't mean suggest that he said it wouldn't be a problem at all. More just that he has the level of faith in Jaden at the 4 that I do and the rest will probably work itself out.Q-is-here wrote: ↑Fri Jul 17, 2026 9:52 pmIt's been pretty funny because Dane would complain about how nonsensical our roster was with Randle and Rudy starting together and then having a 3rd big come off the bench in Naz that was more of a PF/SF than a PF/C. Not on topic, but I also thought it was interesting what he said about Ant and LaMelo combining for a dynamic catch and shoot pairing. Not that itself is a revelation, but how just that low hanging fruit on its own could be worth an extra 8 points a game for Edwards! I've wondered about a similar level of potential myself, so again it was cool to hear it echoed.
Is it October yet? I'm desperate to see how this works
Re: Wolves Offseason Forward Options
Nice we have our own euro scout! What all did you see that you liked? One thing I saw watching some highlights is I thought he looked a little slimmer than what I remember him playing with the Kings etc.Mnwild1128 wrote: ↑Fri Jul 17, 2026 11:32 pmAfter watching several of his games in europe after the signing, compared to where he was at in the nba a few years earlier, i agree.
