[*] If you go to the top right and mouse over your name a menu comes down. If you go to Account Settings>Notifications you can there set it to how you wish, some don't like email notifications for some things and do for others, just check or uncheck to your liking and it remembers it.

[*] If you are at the forum page if you go to the bottom there is a "preferences" and that is for personal forum settings which has a couple of handy things for some people, such as posts per page and toggles for new post indicators and to automatically subscribe to threads you reply to. You may notice right next to that setting there is an rss button,(not sure how many use it) but if you click it you can grab the link and have updates sent wherever you like your feeds.

[*] If you notice the ! on the lower right will pop up a little notification to show you have threads commented on and give you quick access to them.

[*] If you mouse over a thread, you might notice to the right of the title, a arrow pointing to a piece of paper pops up, clicking on it will jump you to unread posts.

Any way to turn subscription emails off? I found the option to turn off the email notification on a thread by thread basis, but didn't see one to turn it off by default.

Ohhhh, you can subscribe to an entire forum category and set it to not email. Nice. Not sure how I missed that one.
