Re: Teddy returns against the Ravens Thread
Keenum would have to absolutely suck or get hurt for Teddy to play year in my opinion. I just am not sure how good Teddy would have to look in practice to make the switch. I am hoping this kid we got from the Bronco's turns into a player.

Given the fact he wasn't exactly a star QB when he got hurt and all this time away, why would we want to start him at all this season? It seems to me that Keenum is the guy to go with for as far as he can take us this year.
I absolutely agree with your assessment of Teddy preinjury. As much as I love Teddy he certainly hadn't arrived yet although there was some hype from him before the injury. I was think about this a few days ago and think there are a few things to consider during Teddy's time as a starting QB.
1. Offensive line. Most of the time it was either below average or bad. Maybe it was never as bad as it was last year for Sam but it was never good.
2. Often the offense was not based around his strengths and he had to cater to having AP around. Honestly ai think he probably looked the best his rookie year when he took over for Cassel and was able to just do his thing.
3. Weapons around him. The RBs when AP went down we're average at best. WRs? They likely haven't emerged but I also think maybe it was Thielen that seemed to do well when he was the QB. I believe Rudolph was hurt most of one year but I could be wrong. The players that would be around him now if he stepped foot on the field (assuming there are no more terrible injuries) will Be better than he had before. Mike Wallace was a good player but his abilities were not a good fit.
So...in theory if he came back he would have an offense catered to what he does well, better oline and some legit high level WR to throw to. So maybe we would see Teddy get the ball put quicker and have some time to hit some open players down field.
Now will Teddy end up being a bette roption this year than Keenum? Idk that's a legit and interesting question. It seems likely Keenum is going to have a couple more weeks to make a strong CASE for keeping the job as more than just a placeholder this season. I don't have much faith that Bradford will be able to play much this season. I don't think they want to let Sloter go. They could use a young developmental QB espcially since we have no idea who the starter will be next year.
Good breakdown Monster. I guess I'm just questioning why it's even a question to begin with that he would start. Be 2nd or 3rd string? Sure. But actually put him out there to start an NFL game ahead of Keenum? I don't think so.
FWIW
Keenum is PPF #17 ranked QB right now but he has been falling from top 10. Lol IF.....Keenum keeps playing like a legit average-ish NFL starter then yeah it's gonna be hard to pull the plus on that because...well that's plenty good and probably good enough to win games maybe even in the playoffs. Why would the Vikings play Teddy this year?
Keenum comes down to earth. This is somewhat likely. You seem to have faith in Keenum like I do though. IF Keenum keeps playing relatively well he could earn some nice money as a placeholder starter top backup from another team which could complicate things further for the Vikings future QB situation.
Teddy looks absolutely healthy enough to be on the field and looks absolutely ready to play in practice. They have to activate him because he is healthy so at some point they may want to see what the guy has since if they want to keep him around next year they would have to pay him some legit $$$. The franchise tag would be an expensive 1 year option.
Bradford isn't an option to play games the rest of the season. At this point I might pick Teddy to play a game this year over Bradford as I tend to believe Jay Glazer's reporting over what Zimmer and the Vikings have said.
Ultimately we don't actually know how healthy/physically ready Teddy is right now. He can watch some video hear reports that have become increasingly positive but...who knows. The Vikings QB situation is fascinating/compelling/tragic and inspiring.

Agreed Bleed.
It seems like Sloter would be a guy that would get claimed if we waived him. Heck the Broncos might want him right now it seems their QB situation is not going so well over there. It's interesting the undrafted QB market. Mitch Liedner became a bit of a joke and people said the Vikings just brought in a hometown kid etc. Wolfson has reported he has had workouts with a few other teams since then. Apparently some teams are or have seen something there. Back to Sloter I think the Vikings will keep him around because my guess is when they activate Teddy a QB will end up in the IR and my guess is it will be Bradford.

Re: Teddy returns against the Ravens Thread
I think we have to play Teddy at some point. Bradford may not play the rest of the year and we just can't go into the offseason with no idea how close Teddy is to being back. That would be two huge unknowns and we'd have to pick one with no information if Bradford's injury will be a problem long-term and no information if Teddy can even mentally play at this level after the injury. I'm not calling for Teddy now, but I think we have to play him this year just to know if he's got a shot at being our QB of the future. Otherwise we potentially waste next year as well with a questionable QB depth chart. Get this defense a QB.

I basically agree with your post here and your plea to get a Qb for this defense hits home. How many games would Teddy and how good would he have to be to ultimately answer questions though? The Vikings are in a tough spot. Aside from going out and paying Cousins (or some other legit good bit probably older FA) a boatload of money no matter what they do isn't next year probably a questionable depth chart? It sucks but I think that's a very possible reality whether Teddy plays this year or not. Sigh I have hope and belief in Teddy being the guy going forward but believing he can be the guy feels risky espcially if my job was being bet on it.

It depends on the playoff race, but I would play him the last 4 games at least if given the chance. You start out with a great defense in Carolina and then have 3 easier games against Cincinnati, Green Bay and Chicago. That would give him 7 weeks to get game ready. 2 tough road games in Carolina and Green Bay (December game). That would be enough of a barometer to me to get an idea if he's a legit option moving into next year or if he's just done for probably another year.

Re: Teddy returns against the Ravens Thread
Monster i hope eddie doesnt need to find a new home after this week. Also when i heard cousins mentioned i was wondering initially why we were trying to nab demarcus on the vike as our qb. I guess i have seen his arm on some of his full court heaves. Not bad actually. Anyways i think we have 3 weeks to decide on what we do with teddy. I would say you wait at least a week or two before playing him barring a keenum injury or horrible play. I am interested to hear what really is the deal with bradford. He looked absolutely dreadful out there the other week. Is his career really over? Is it just a bruise that needs healing? No guys are signed after this year so i really want to see what teddy can give us before year end. Should be interesting for sure.

Cousins as a QB would be like having Dante (Culpepper not Dunningham) as a QB. Both guys are a bit turnover prone maybe Demarcus has small hands? Jk
If you learn what the real deal is with Bradford then you would have a pretty sweet scoop. I think someone tweeted late this week and said Bradford hasn't been seen all week.

I pretty much agree with this take, except I think I want to see Teddy earlier than with 4 games left in the season. The coaching staff is going to see in practice how his knee is responding, and as soon as they think he is physically ready, they need to see how he responds in a game...physically and mentally. Case has been very good, but still only ranks as the #17 QB. I loved the way Teddy was playing at the end of the 2015 season, and I thought he was poised for a breakout year before the injury. His pocket presence is about the best in the league...he seems to have eyes in the back of his head, and always seems to know when it's time to scramble. And while he wasn't known as a running QB in college, he has surprised me with his ability to make plays with his feet.
If Teddy just can't play anymore, I'm comfortable with Keenum at QB...heck, he set a record for passing yards in college, and has looked very good this season. But a healthy Bridgewater is at a different level, and we need to see if he has a future in the league sooner than later.
Re: Teddy returns against the Ravens Thread
If and when Teddy is ready and the Vikes are still winning I don't think you mess with things. Keenum is playing well enough and making few mistakes. He's proven to sustain long drives even if they don't always result in tds. What it does do is keeps the defense rested and playing at a high level. When the d is clicking all the offense needs to do is scrap 20 pts together to win.
The concern going forward is less about the qb pos and more about who was lost today on the line and Diggs being out. They'll be needed against better teams than the ravens down the road
