I watched that Laker/Celtic game earlier in the week. Lonzo is a talented, instinctual player. He does a LOT of things quite well. But his shot is broke (for now) and his body is weak. Once he adds strength, I think he'll be better on both ends.

As for his shot, I just don't know. He obviously had success in college with it, but we know that college shooting doesn't always translate to the next level. And there is lots of room for questioning his mechanics and whether it can lead to sustainable shot-making at the NBA level.

Yeah, nice to see the kid have such a good game despite the loss. However he continues to struggle with his shot...only 31% from the field even after a good night. I hope his high volume is due to the urging of his coach, becasue if it's of his own doing, he is going to lose his team. You can't be jacking up 5 threes per game and only make 25% of them unless your coach is telling you to.

He only takes open 3's and my guess is Walton is trying to keep him confident. Remember, Ball can be a bit Rubio-esque in his deference to team mates. Now everyone is going under screens and giving him space. He HAS to take those open shots. But yeah, not even Rubio has shot the ball this poorly in his career!

It's the new NBA you are supposed to shoot 3's and shoot them in high volume. I'd rather see him shooting 5 3's a game even on a poor % than 1 or 2. Hell years ago I wanted Telfair jacking up a couple more 3's a game! I was ahead of my time!!! Lol heck his poor percentage on 3's is still more efficient than his 2's. :) like Q said he won't keep shooting this bad all year.

That writer doesn't seem well informed. There are multiple NBA teams that I know of that have a quota of 3's or percentage that you have to make to be able to have the green light to shoot them in games. A recent podcast i listened to the concept came up of whether practice 3's or 3's even in warmups are predictive of success in games. The guest who had worked for at least one NBA team (who had a similar system in place for shooters to hit) said yes it's actually a pretty good predictor with obviously an exception here and there.

Remember back when Tatum was just a guy that was basically only good at being an ISO player? Good times.

Celtics nailed that pick. He surely had more game then he got to show with Blue Devils. It certainly helped him that Hayward got hurt. He would never have got the minutes, but got to play with him in the preseason to figure out what he was up against in this league.
