I am doubling down even though the Wolves have a very hard schedule to finish. The Wolves will end up with a top 4 seed and home playoff series. They will win said playoff series as well. DLO was a shitty teammate, only cared about his stats and not about winning or making teammates better. Addition by subtraction, net loser, no defense. Guy has been dumped 4 times already. Guy thinks he is Jordan and gets benched for JMac. lol Good riddance!

That's big talk considering his play and availability -- along with Anthony Edwards' -- has essentially kept the team in the playoff mix this season despite injuries and underwhelming play from a variety of Wolves players. Talk your shit, by all means, but recognize that the season would be grim without him the last three months. Refusing to acknowledge that in some way is delusional.

Bad teammate and only cared about his stats, and yet he had a career-low USG%, lowest FGA per game since he was a rookie, and repeatedly put his ego to the side for teammates to get their shine! Doing that in a contract year no less. Make it make sense.

Far from a perfect player. Definitely had his flaws and weaknesses. Still better than given credit for here. Still helped Minnesota have more success than before he arrived. Glad he got away from this fan base.

Sounds like John K is being professional. Clearly the organization had enough of Russel. I'll go with my daughter on it, his hair and fashion never matched his play.

"Glad he got away from this fan base."

He seems to be pretty skilled at that, being traded 5 times at only age 26!

Look, it's pretty clear that D. Russell is ridiculously polarizing. Here's a guy still getting ripped for arguably the hottest stretch of shooting we've seen in Minneapolis... ever!

But, it's also obvious that he's a terrible defender who does a lot of the little things that hurts his team, including playing with a seemingly high level of apathy or even indifference at times (at least defensively). Depending on what you value more... will dictate how you view Russell. Heck, it's the same for NBA teams. Teams keep signing/trading for him... and then trading or letting him walk.

But what's even more ridiculous are those who rip Russell for literally everything... AND... Camden for his over-the-top defense of Russell literally every single time.

I'm glad Russell is gone. It might be my favorite trade in Timberwolves history. But not necessarily for the on-the-court stuff.

This board has objectively become worse as the two sides have dug in deeper and deeper and deeper on the polarizing PG to the point that there's little to no value for anybody else walking into the thread to discuss basketball.

Nearly everybody here offers cool insights and value at one point or another. But this Russell stuff has become so tedious and silly. Hopefully, we can all move on.

The board will be better for it.

I've seen Anthony Davis and other Lakers come out and defend Westbrook and say good things about him since the trade. I wonder if any Wolves will come out and say Dlo was a great teammate, or if Dlo will post an IG story saying everything coming out about him is false.

I'm assuming you quoted my post to talk to the board as a whole, seeing as I don't post as much as regulars and don't even crack the top 5 DLo haters. I expect this to be just like Rubio and drag on for years.

Did Warriors players do so? I can't remember but the organization was leaking stuff like DLo not bothering to learn the playbook and not giving effort on defense.

Yes. Definitely directed to all of us... sorry for any confusion.

I actually thought that 95% of the board had a fairly balanced view of Russell, and that much of the conversation was worthwhile and important. I think most of the board would describe him the way the national media would...as a talented combo guard who occasionally won games with hot shooting, but also could hurt his teams with inconsistent defense and shooting. I also think that most of us...me included...were a little naive when evaluating him as a teammate. My observation in attending games was that he was a good teammate, but that was obviously not entirely the case. I don't view Jon K's description of clubhouse issues as anything near Jimmy Butler or Christian Laettner level, but it's clear there was something in the air that was not at all constructive. Jon's reporting and the joyful way our squad responded in the Utah game makes me quite optimistic about our future and pleased with the deal.
