Say does anyone know when Conley/NAW join the team?

No word, sundog, but I heard Conley was on our bench tonight. No reason to believe he won't be pick and rolling with Rudy in Memphis Friday night (providing Rudy is ok to go).

Everything is falling into place. Minnesota might need to trade for Bojan Bogdanovic in the summer to complete the full Jazzerwolves transformation, but I think Karl-Anthony Towns might be able fetch him and a few second-round picks if they stay firm in trade talks. We need players that are closer to 40 than they are 20 and also have familiarity with Rudy Gobert. I'm ready. I can feel the wins piling up already.

Reminds me of Thib's Minnesota Timberbulls.

We can make all the jokes we want to, but I'd support any trade involving any player if I genuinely thought it was a good deal for the Timberwolves.

Forgive me if I don't take part in the excitement around acquiring a 35-year old downgrade in the backcourt. Three second-round picks doesn't do much for me either, especially considering this is a followup trade to the Rudy Gobert deal that sent away the equivalent of five or six first-round picks.

Minnesota is now much older, more expensive, with many more resources invested than just a year ago -- without any clear indication that they're actually better. Let's have a party. Let's all smile and sing carols. This franchise is in trouble.

Sadly, I think you're spot on Cam. I'm rationalizing a bit in emphasizing the picks. Truth is, 2nd round picks can be bought with cash. Everything you said about this deal is accurate in my view.

Can we at least wait to see them play a couple games before call it a downgrade? We really don't know yet. On paper, DLO is a better player than Conley - I'm sure most would agree. But the problem with this year's roster is we had a bunch of talented guys on paper that didn't play well enough together as a team. Look at what 33 year old Patrick Beverly did for us last year. He put up 1.7 VORP. That was more than DLO last year and more than DLO this year (even with DLO's unsustainable hot streak).

Sometimes you have to switch out some pieces to get things right. Adding a savvy vet next to some of our young guys may not be as horrible as some are concerned about. And there is no law that says we can't spin some of those same vets off next year for more value.

I think where I differ from you on this is I just don't think DLO is THAT big of a factor when it comes to winning nor do I think this deal is some sort of massive mistake or boon for the franchise. I also don't think he was the albatross others make him out to be. I will grant you that it might sting a bit short-term given his hot shooting and developing symbiosis with Ant. They seemed to have been figuring things out. But his defense was always going to be a problem.

I have some news for you about 35-year old Mike Conley Jr.'s defense... It ain't good, or at least it hasn't been this season. It's very much in the same quadrant as D'Angelo Russell's. If that is part of the argument in favor of this trade, then people are in for a rude awakening on that end.
