Yeah, and the team should have given him a "Hall pass" too! LOL

It figures they hire a guy who appears to have known what he was doing only to have to fire him. So damn Timberwolves!

Edwards was the obvious pick, not sure why that deserves a statue?

It was not the easiest pick. If this board made the pick Wiseman would of been the pick. I believe Myself and dooper were the ones that wanted Ant but even I'm surprised how good Ant is.

I mean Lip in the draft thread called Rosas a village idiot and thought about canceling his season tickets because of that draft.

That's what I remember, there was a lot of love for Wiseman here and many viewed "Football Boy" as another inefficient Wiggins like player.

1. I'm not sure we'll ever get to see what James Wiseman was supposed to become due to multiple injuries, which is a real shame. If the Timberwolves and their medical staff saw signs of future injury in his reports, and that contributed to selecting another talent, then good on them.

2. Anthony Edwards absolutely had question marks concerning his efficiency, or lack thereof, and inconsistent motor. He would lackadaisically pick and choose when to make effort plays at Georgia instead of playing with energy consistently. And he rarely played defense despite having the physical tools and athleticism to be a disruptor against inferior talent. Those red flags were real. Kudos to both him and Minnesota's front office for asking the right questions during the pre-draft process and determining if Edwards cared enough about the game to put in the work. He clearly does and has put much of his criticisms to rest early on in his career.

I had some back and forth between the top 3 that year and I definitely wavered a bit on Edwards predraft when he was being compared to Wiggins but I felt in my head and heart that he had the skillset that, if realized, would be the best option.

All the top players had significant questions about them and also tantalizing upside. Edwards was actually the most proven. Still I think it's absolutely fair to say that there was not a clear pick at #1 in that draft. To some extent you were taking a risk on whichever guy you took. This year's draft had 3 players that where more proven but very close in talent upside etc. While I think they were close as prospects they were less risky to take any one of them. I personally liked Edwards more than some of the folks on this board at the time of the draft. I was firmly in the trade down get assets camp party because I really liked Haliburton.

Yeah, there were legit pros and cons to each of the top three picks that year and it was not clear cut at all. And remember Ant (at first) validated a lot of our concerns throughout the first half of his rookie campaign by being a fairly indiscriminate chucker that missed a lot of shots and didn't play great defense. Then he really started to come on after the ASB and began proving many of us wrong....thank goodness!

Andre Iguodala on Anthony Edwards: https://www.si.com/fannation/bringmethesports/timberwolves/dwyane-wade-andre-iguodala-heap-more-praise-on-anthony-edwards

Anthony Edwards has plenty of fans after his first two seasons in the NBA, but you can add Andre Iguodala and Dwyane Wade to the list of people that believe that he will explode in his third season.

Iguodala had Wade as his guest on the latest episode of the Point Forward podcast and the Miami Heat legend gave his observations when he went took his son Zaire on a college visit to Georgia, where they were joined by Edwards.

"Coach was watching film with him and I was like, damn, this kid is talented," Wade said. "I watched him and it looked like he had a LeBron [James] body in high school."

Iguodala followed up by giving him a chilling account of what it was like to try to guard Edwards last season.

"He came at me full speed and did an in and out and there was absolutely nothing I could do," Iguodala said. "I was like...it's time for me to wrap it up. This kid...he's different. He's like [Wade] when he could change those directions and he could split pick and rolls and it's insane."

Iguodala also dreamed of what it would be like if Edwards were a part of the Miami Heat's fabled culture.

"All he needs is two months of Miami basketball and it's over," Iguodala beamed. "My god. That kid's got it. And he can shoot too."

Through his first two NBA seasons, Edwards has averaged 20.3 points, 4.7 rebounds 3.4 assists per game. Only 18 players in NBA history have averaged those numbers in their first two seasons including Kareem-Abdul Jabaar, Oscar Robertson, Larry Bird, Jerry West, Michael Jordan and Dwyane Wade.

Even more impressive, Edwards is one of three players in NBA history to do it before the end of their age-20 season, joining Luka Doncic and LeBron James.

Anyone still not think this kid is going to take a stratospheric jump this year?
Pessimism runs deep in our blood as wolves fans, why wouldn't it?
But EVERYONE is talking about Ant
He's ready
And I'm MORE then ready for the season to start
TC inherited a lot from Rosas
But the roster was unbalanced
It's not Rosas fault
He turned the ship around perty fast
But TC gave us Team Space Jam
Dlo, Ant, Jaden, KAT, Gobert
I mean the huge tall fast scary cartoon villains
Like a super sized bugs, tweety, Marvin et al
I only see Boston in our league
Other teams have more individually talented players
But they have holes
GS better not come back better...seriously
Lake show better not pull off a heist of epic proportions
Myles/Buddy for Westbrook makes them competitive in my eyes
Unless CP3 could make it the whole way
As a basketball fan, I'm ready to see him win one
Student of the game
But we got ANT with some pretty nice pieces around him

Prediction:
82 and 0....
I kid
Seat belt check
But 60 wins?
I'm in
Even with our schedule

And a side note,
And to one of Cam's earlier points in another thread
Why can't a HUGE and extremely skilled team win?
Look at Boston
I see our size as our advantage
Go small on us at your own Peril

Let's go wolves, let's go wolves, let's go wolves
