They could still use the Bi-annual exception or just do a vet min guy...but obviously a trade also makes sense if nothing else to maybe clear a roster spot.

So we want to play KAT some minutes at the 4. And we have Prince, McDaniels and Vando on the roster as well. How does this work out?
SlowMo has a number of strengths I had not given him credit for, but it sure seems like we McDaniels or Vando could be on their way somewhere...
Good point. I know the Vando bandwagon crashed on this board, but I'm still a big fan. Big Mac is a core piece unless they trade for an all star. Not sure what Finchy has up his sleeve for this rotation
Right now, I think Kyle Anderson is going to start at the four. Jaden McDaniels will be the primary three coming off the bench. Taurean Prince will be the primary four coming off the bench. Jarred Vanderbilt looks to be matchup or situation dependent. I love his energy and switchability on defense, but his limitations on offense only got more and more real as the season continued.
Can you guys imagine the whiplash opposing defenders will feel when they switch between guarding Vando and SloMo?
Seriously, I used to really like SloMo. Not so much any more, but he's still a guy who can do a range of things at about an average level. That sounds like faint praise (it kind of is), but we've always complained about only having one-way guys. Now with Prince back and SloMo, we've got a couple of vets who can do a bit of everything.

Actually Cam I think Vanderbilt makes more sense starting most games and Anderson plays with bench guys as an additional ball handler and smart stabilizing player. Now who will be playing late in the game? That might be Anderson. I think what Anderson can bring that hasn't been mentioned yet is a guy that can help in the playoffs when teams go small. He is an ok rebounder but as an undersized PF he is alright there but he offers something on offense and he is a pretty good defender. This would also keep McDaniels as a SF in smaller lineups where he is more effective.

Anybody that pushes for anything other than SF for McDaniels is stupid.
The Kyle Anderson deal makes zero sense to me. He covers no weakness on our standing team.
Kyle Anderson is a highly skilled, high IQ, long slow, unathletic two-way SF who can also play the PF position. He's mediocre, inconsistent 3-point shooter with a nice mid-range game. Interestingly he came out of college touted as a PG. His ball skills and passing make him a viable point forward. He's clearly not the big the Wolves purportedly want, but he has decent size with an 8'11.5 standing reach, a 7'2 wingspan and a 230 pound frame. At age 29, he's definitely a finished produce, but he's clearly still in his prime.
So it's not a terrible signing, but it's still disappointing. Two years guaranteed at $9 million per year seems like a lot to me for what Anderson brings to the team relative to the team's needs.
If true that the Wolves are still pursuing another true big to play alongside KAT, then it will have to be via trade because Kyle Anderson takes the Wolves last roster spot with Knight and Minott as our two 2-way players. So maybe the Ayton rumors are true. That would turn the Anderson signing into a double disappointment. But maybe we're looking at Beasley + Naz for Myles Turner. Or maybe there's a path to trade for the Knicks' Mitchell Robinson.
Man I feel like I'm on an island. Slo mo just makes winning plays and he can initiate offense and playmake in a pinch. That was a stated need by the team going into the off-season. The ball never dies in his hands. He doesn't get pushed around and will only help solidfy the defense. Love it.
