The Nets are a buzzsaw. The only thing stopping them from a title is the potential for injury. Talent wins in the NBA, the more you have the better your chances. That being said its so sad to me, Durant was easily my favorite player in the league on OKC, and now I find him and the Nets repulsive, three guys that play when they want to on an artificial team. The league will do nothing about the player entitlement era. The Nets are going to win it all and Finals ratings will be even lower than last year.

On Giannis, he's a power forward playing point forward. I think Cool nailed it that putting him in more of a traditional big role would open up more of his game. It would be smart for him too since that style could extend the effectiveness of his career when he loses his burst.

Bring in McHale to work with him and he would be unstoppable on the block. And when the double and triple teams inevitably come, he's a good enough passer to find the 3 point shooters. They play outside in, when in reality they should play the opposite.

I'm not convinced yet on the Nets, although I am worried, as I share a similar anti-super-friends sentiment. Their whole premise is that they will just outshoot and outscore everyone, but the Bucks couldn't even put 90 points on them the other night! Who are the Nets defensive superstars that they signed?

I think in this series it's more of a Bucks problem than a Nets being just too good. I could be wrong though....

But there is no real traditional big role anymore, is there?

Only Embiid and Vucevic reached 10+ post-ups per game in 21. Nobody reached 10 last season.

Giannis was in the top 20 with about 4.6 per game.

This is a good counter to the reality of the modern NBA. 2015-16 5 teams as a whole ran over 10 post ups a game. This year only the sixers did. There has obviously been a shift away from this play type. I can't see how with the moves for size there won't be a creative coach who can bring this back into fashion in the margins. I don't see any teams going back to 20+ posts a game, but I do find it hard to believe that there can't be some unique thinking about getting the ball deeper inside.

Abe is right. You can't build an offense around low post ball. I definitely see the benefit of moving Giannis off the ball more and getting it to him in spots where he can be more effective, but he just has to develop at least some modicum of an outside shot. He shot 36% or less from all distances from 10 feet and beyond. I mean, AD is no big-time deep threat, but he does have the mid-range in his bag so if guys play him soft he can rise up and hit the 16-footer if he has to. May be Giannis should work on his mid-range game and stop worrying about 3's at this point (?).

I think there was a play the other night where the 7'4" Boban Marjanovich was being guarded by 6'2" Reggie Jackson in the post... and Jackson stole the entry pass... but was called for the foul.
