AB > Payne

I am with SJM34. He needs 20 minutes a minimum the rest of the season to see what we have. Honestly I think Payne needs the same. The good thing is Payne should be able to play some center.

Moving AB for less than a first would be stupid. He is a developing player making around MLE money. Flip has been limiting his minutes so I fail to see the incentive to dump him. He is already a better rebounder, and IMO a better defender than Thad, and until recently had about the same offensive efficiency. Thad makes over 9 mil a year, and is likely opting out for a more lucrative deal (if he stays in Minny). Right now neither look like a starter moving forward, but Bennett still has upside.

I would prefer they give him 25-30 minutes a night CONSISTENTLY for the remainder of the season before making any decisions. Thad supporters are pointing to the improvement since Ricky came back, but why can't we give the same opportunity to the player that actually has the tools to be a starter.

Well said. I agree with Bleed though too. Payne needs a good run of 20 min as well (once he gets the offense down). I will say though, I'll give Thad the nod on scoring and he has played well of late, but I'm all in favor of trading him for at least a 1st rounder.

I agree that in college AB was much better than Payne...Payne was a very good college player, but AB was a monster. The problem is that AB hasn't been able to put it together in 1 1/2 years of pro ball. I haven't given up on AB yet....I still lean toward Chad Ford's view that he still has enormous potential. But right now, it's difficult to say that the known (AB) is better than the unknown (Payne).

I saw the Seraphin for AB rumor too, and immediately rejected it...It doesn't seem to make sense for either team. From the Wizard's perspective, Seraphin is getting regular minutes at center and is their #2 guy there, while they seem to have much more depth at PF. And as for the Wolves, I don't see them giving up so early on a guy of AB's potential, especially in exchange for a guy who immediately becomes our third string center. I'd be stunned if that deal happened.

Like I've said before, if that inner beast could be awoken or even stirred a little bit, Bennett has the tools.

I don't see any market for Bennett.

- He had arguably the worst rookie season for a #1 pick in modern history. It was painfully, dreadfully, comically terrible.
- He's been sorta serviceable on what has been the worst team in basketball this season.
- He's set to make nearly $6M.

I don't know what potential he's shown to be worth giving up a 1st rd. pick or another legit asset. But the Wolves aren't stuck financially where they have to dump him. And he's not taking up a roster spot for somebody more promising.

So I see him staying here... for better or worse.

Abe, he's practically been the same player from last year. Check the stats if you don't believe me. Same painfully, dreadfully terrible player; just wearing a different uniform. http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/b/bennean01.html

We don't have to dump him, necessarily, but $6M is good rotation player money. Hell, we got Martin for that essentially. We won't find another bargain like that, but I'd rather dump then explore instead of keep him and be stuck. I also think we could use money/roster spot towards a backup PG. (Wonder if we could use Bennett + ? to get Calderon...)

Not to mention, I don't see Thad opting out or getting traded, which means he'll be here next year. Flip's gonna want to play Payne next year since he just traded for him. Bennett isn't needed here.
