These guys are getting paid a lot of money not to play, why rush to get back?

Rather than hearing about this from NBA Insider, can the team please step up and give us a specific timetable for a couple of these guys? Argh!
All this information has been out for a while. It's coming directly from Flip and was included in Today's Strib: http://www.startribune.com/sports/wolves/287879901.html
Ah, thanks. Well, that's the most we've heard in a long time. That really sucks frankly. Ugh.
It's just unbelievable to me that our three best players all get hit by injuries within a week or so of each other and then all three are out for literally months. Can't someone just tweak an ankle or knee and be out for a week or two!? I guess we shouldn't be surprised with Pek and Martin given their histories, but the Rubio ankle sprain and length of recovery really, really sucks.
I'm a believer that there are typically great picks to be had up and down the draft board, so I much prefer playing competitive basketball than this dumpster fire of a season - especially since we already have a pretty good stable of young talent. So pardon me if I don't get as excited as others about losing so many games.
I agree q. Play hard whenever you can. I think bigs can really come anywhere in the draft. Risks are often taken with the younger unpolished bigs leaving some great talent behind.
Yup, I can see it now. We draft Willy-Cauley Stein because we're desperate for a big and he's the 3rd best on the board (I'm assuming the Lakers and New York will draft before us ;-) ) and then D'Angelo Russell is taken two or three picks later and within three years becomes one of the best guards in the league.

No problem. The Strib is normally pretty decent about providing updates. The only one that I never saw updates on was Turiaf. That seemed odd to me. But they've been updating Martin/Pek/Rubio pretty regularly. I've read Flip has even thrown out the idea of
sending Martin/Pek to the D-League to get their legs back. Martin didn't sound too keen on that idea based on how I read his quotes.
You see, what other team would even consider this? He can't just play them off the bench for a short 3-4 minute stint in each half to start, and then work their minutes up from there? I love how Durant and Westbrook could be out for multiple weeks, then immediately get inserted back into the starting lineup once ready to play and light it up on Day 1. Not the Wolves though. And let's tack on another two weeks so that they can re-learn Flip's amazing playbook. Lord knows how important that's been to our success!
End of rant.

I didn't think any player that is not a first or second year player could go tot the d-league.

You guys had me questioning myself if I dreamed that up. But I was able to find where I saw the Martin to D-League notes: http://www.startribune.com/sports/blogs/287302981.html

I saw it too, but didn't think they could do that. I thought the union would be pissed about it. Maybe a vet can agree to it where a rookie/soph has to go.

The Rubio injury return news is really disappointing. I have been saying early to mid January since he went down, but I thought that was conservative...turns out it's not.
Cool may be right that this is the year we win the lottery. Frankly, I think getting the second pick behind the Knicks could be even better for us. I don't think the Sixers are sold on MCW as their PG, and have to be coveting the African PG. It would be interesting to see what they would give us to move up, assuming they have the 3rd pick, and we would still be able to select Towns.
Jus trying to find a ray of hope in this dismal season of losses...

LST you take that optimism somewhere else. We need to get back to discussing who's worse, Thad or AB.

It's not even the All-Star break and people are thinking Rubio might get shut down for the year because of an ankle sprain injury? I say keep him out until he is fully ready and if that is after the All-Star break so be it. Post All-Star break is enough time to have a proper evaluation on our team moving forward.

As soon as I saw Ricky's ankle go, I thought of T-hud. That was bad, and I called him being out for a LONG time, and took flak for it from one or two guys on the board. I'm not sure if those guys were posting when T-hud went down!
