Great report Lip. It truly is amazing how much Ricky makes a difference. And as I've said before, It's somewhat scary at the same time because we collapse like a house of cards when he's in street clothes . He needs a co-pilot badly, either on the wing (Wiggins some day?) or perhaps a 6th man combo guard that can back him up and also play next to him at times. And it's not just about talent, it's about helping provide the emotional leadership. For whatever reason, there is no one on the current squad, other than Rubio, that has that "let's take this hill!" mentality.

Shabazz has been out 15 games. Man, it feels longer.

It does feel longer. I'm looking forward to getting him back. I want him to continue his development. In addition, his return will enable Flip to trim some of Wiggins' minutes. 43 minutes against Memphis. That's too much. I'm worried all his minutes could be setting him up for an injury.

Bennett played C because Dieng and Pek were both in foul trouble (I believe they both had 3 before half and had to be pulled). Hard to blame Flip when he did it out of necessity.

Not sure if anyone else saw this, but while on the bench, there were multiple times when Rubio was up and directing players on offense. His level of engagement and impact is present, even when he's not on the floor. It really is amazing to see.

As Khans already mentioned, Bennett was at the C after Dieng and Pek both ran into foul trouble in the second. Been a couple days since the game now, but if I'm remembering right, there was a possession when Bennett was covering Gasol in the post. He tried fronting him, but was eventually called for the foul. Flip called I'm over and gave him some direction. On that possession, Bennett did a better job, used help and better positioning to deny Gasol the ball. Definitely nice to see him listening and learning.

I said it in another thread, but this rest is good for Shabazz. He was playing with a hurt knee and ankle iirc. I'm lookin' forward to getting him back. I'm seeing Rubio resting tonight, then get Bazz back tomorrow vs the Hawks and have a full squad for the first time in ages. That would be a fun game.

Nice to hear Lip, especially on the Bennett front.

It sure would be nice if we could magically dump Bud and pick up Adrien. Need more of that toughness and he can hold his own for small stints at C too. Unless of course another big is brought in via trade.

Hmm.. If we sit Rubio tonight for a winnable game so we can play him against the best team in the league tomorrow, doesn't that qualify as tanking?!?

I worry we have to buyout Bud or dump if with Thad or Martin. I would love to see Adrien back.
