Wolves may just convert Knight once it doesn't kill them financially.

The Timberwolves announced in a press release today that they waived Chris Silva, Brian Bowen II, Matt Lewis, and Isaiah Miller.

Additionally, they have signed forward Vince Edwards. Terms of the deal weren't disclosed, but it's almost certainly an Exhibit 10 contract. Edwards will likely be waived before the season starts and all five players will be in line for a bonus of up to $50K if they stick with the Iowa Wolves for at least 60 days.

I'd be surprised if it happens considering how well he played through preseason, but if Isaiah Hartenstein gets waived by Los Angeles he needs to be heading to Minnesota to sign a multi-year deal. I know the Wolves are up against the luxury tax threshold, but they will have ample time to duck below it by the end of the season. I'm anxiously waiting to see which big the Clippers choose, but the truth is that the Wolves should sign whichever of Hartenstein and Harry Giles gets waived. They need another playable big in the worst way.

Yeah, I'm not convinced Knight should be anywhere other than Iowa. We are in trouble up front if KAT or Naz go down.

I like the idea of the waive and stretch of Layman as the worst case scenario of ducking the tax this season if they signed someone to a vet min deal. It would be interesting to know what the thinking was from various people in the front office was. Still I can see the Wolves waiting till the Simmons situation is resolved before adding a 15th guy. I continue to believe in Knight more than the rest of this board but I was also the person talking up Hartenstein first. It does suck that we didn't sign him cheap ourselves. I agree with Cam he may have gotten regular rotation minutes. Vanderbilt isn't currently a starting level player. Reid might be but not Vando.
