I don't know Wolf. The Sam Cassell and Sprewell deals came after that. I thought that was the pinnacle, but then we got cheap, but honestly, I think Sam's injury was the biggest issue then. He was hurt in the playoffs and then most of the next year. Hard to want to pay a guy at that age when he is hurt.

It had to be some humble pie for Mabury to go to the Celtics. Seeing KG as a star and himself as a bit player.

When I think back of what if's I don't think of Marbury or Ray Allen. I think of Kobe. What if we would have been aggressive again and took Kobe. Then watching last dance and seeing a glimpse of Kobe and KG in the All-Star game together made it hit home a little more. What could have been with those 2 ultra competitors?

Well I'm not necessarily talking about wins and losses, but moreso this want for the player to want you back. It's the kind of thinking that cost the team the gumption to take a chance on Curry, the kind of thinking that for a long time reduced the pool of players exclusively to who would arrive to workout or interview (even with Towns /Okafor). It's the kind of thinking that led some to wonder whether this team was building a mostly white roster on purpose when the team had Shved, AK47, Rubio, Pek, Ridnour, etc.

It doesn't help when the team goes outside of its cocoon and land Thibs and Butler and it burns them.

This franchise took chances on a variety of bad apple players including McCants, Ricky Davis, Beasley Darko Anthony Randolph and like you mentioned handed over the Keys to Thibs and even to some extent Butler. Has Glen liked things to be nice? Sure but I don't think he has completely held back someone from Pursuing a guy if they really thought they were worthwhile. Derrick Rose is an example of that.

I'd be a little surprised if Pek wanted to be around Darko. Pek played hard worked hard and could not play because he was hurt and tried to play through pain. Darko ate hamburgers in the locker room and couldn't take advantage of a stupid golden opportunity the Wolves gave him...which to be fair to him he wanted to turn down.

Another guy some people would argue isn't exactly the greatest dude of all time is Deangelo Russell and the Wolves traded for him.
