I am with Cam (and others) in wanting to see Rubio start tonight. But I have sort of resigned myself to Q's perspective that Ryan has already settled in on Rubio's role to start the season.

Tim, While certainly any glimmer of hope coming from a young guy like McDaniels will be encouraging, I just don't see how he can do enough to avoid either the end of the bench or the G-League this season. I think they will take a long view with him and purposely bring him along slowly. It would be nice if he made that decision harder, that's for sure.

Yep. McDaniels is the long play. As is the foreign guy. And even the #1 pick in the draft is being positioned as more of a developmental piece. When you're a team with only two max guys in their near-primes, there's really no justification for trying to win games right now.

I think I may be sensing some sarcasm in this. But since it is Abe I'm a bit confused.

100-percent sarcasm. I tend to read a lot of Abe's posts in this tone, especially if there's a "to be fair" line in there. Always get a laugh out of it myself!

I think this board is a pretty good lesson in Sarcasm and cynicism. I am not sure that is a good thing, but maybe just the reality of being a Minnesota sports fan.

Just out of curiosity in the short term are you guys ok if Edwards takes non contested long/midrange 2's? I think he took 2 of those the first game making 1 off a good screen to get him free. I mean if he isn't making any then obviously no but I might be able to live with a few of those early on especially depending on the situation.

You probably saw Ryan's post game comments... Those midrange 2s are teaching points!! :)

Although he did say there are circumstances where it is a good shot, which includes factors like who is taking the shot, shot clock, and a few others.

I think if you get into the 2nd level of a defense and they drop all the way back to protect the rim leaving a wide open 16-footer, you kind of have to take it. May be Okogie or RHJ shouldn't take those, but that seems like a shot Edwards needs to have since he will ultimately be a top offensive option some day. The only top scorer in the league who doesn't take that shot is Harden. Let's hope we don't go to that extreme with "the system".

My issue is when he sizes up his guy, dribbles a couple times and then pulls up for a contested shot. Those are literally the worst shots in basketball outside of the last second heaves.

You're just trying to protect Vando's minutes!!! ;-)

I do agree it is unlikely he contributes this year. But I would love for him to turn a few heads, sort of like McLaughlin did when Lip pronounced he will never play in the NBA after one summer league game, but then was begging to give him a two-way contract after game 2! (or was it 3?)

Welp, no change to the starting lineup apparently.

I guess my biggest disappointment with that line up last time was the lack of ball movement and Okogie's be a scoring threat.
