What's "real NBA analyst" ? The likes of Jalen Rose? Then I'd side with a fan who watches every minute of his team.

The OP continues to push for a player who quit the game of basketball and hasn't played professionally for multiple years.

Others suggested trades for bigs that are known to be available and productive.

You have an issue with that?

Brooklyn_Wolves wrote:Here's a an honest assessment of Noel by a Philly fan:

Noel is definitely one of the best defensive bigs in the game when it comes to guarding players who are smaller than him because he is pretty quick for someone with his wing-span and has good timing both with block and steal attempts.

The problem is that he is not bulky enough to stop heavier front court players with any kind of offensive post moves from scoring on him.

And that's just on defense. His offensive game in the halfcourt is just one giant problem. I can't really think of anything he does even remotely well on offense.

He can run the floor pretty well and finish a fast break. That's about it

He's almost like the height of a power forward with the build of a small forward but with no mid-range game and no post moves

He isn't a good rebounder because he can't use his body to keep other players off the boards because he isn't a big body. And for the longest time the idea was "well once he bulks up he'll be fine"

You know, because adding 40-50 pounds of muscle is something anyone can just make happen

I'd say WCS isn't any better and most likely is just worse.

Brilliant.

What? The OP just brought up an old issue of bad interior defense. I don't care about the crazy Larry joke. You suggested players who won't solve the team's problem. So yeah, I got an issue with that.

If Wolves are really serious about improving interior defense they should look at player like Gobert, Jordan, Adams not scrubs like WCS or joke defenders like Monroe or Okafor.

Though the 3 players I mentioned are very hard to obtain. There are other options. My favorite one would be Derrick Favors. Bogut is also available but has his flaws. Also Whiteside and Chandler and the last resort in Noah.

I have no comeback for that logic. You win.

I'd do Wiggins for Gobert, but Utah would laugh. Bogut would be a good fit here if he can stay healthy, but he's probably someone to consider in free agency. No reason not to sign Larry Sanders for a year (we have cap space) and can hopefully we could get a team option if he pans out as I think he would. Noel is ok, but he's not going to clog the lane like the others and I don't want to trade for him unless its Bazz because he's a half a year rental who will probably get some crazy offer in free agency. Ibaka is a good fit too but I don't think we can afford him in free agency. Alternatively, we can pry some cheap defensive bigs away like Hibbert, Mahinmi or Asik who aren't getting much love right now. Pachulia is another defensive big but he is going after rings and we can't offer that to him yet. Tyson Chandler might be available but he's not the pillar of health and he's old.

In the draft their is Jonathan Jeanne who like Gobert is French, skinny and has an amazing wingspan and he'd be an interesting developmental prospect if we could get him with a later pick.

And people wonder why Biyombo got paid all that money. The elite defensive anchor types (that also have some value offensively) are still difficult to get. Most of the time you have to draft them or give up something pretty significant to get them espcially if they are not past 30 and relatively durable.

Too bad the team decided to pay Dieng $64 mil to continue to not be that.
