Re: NBA Finals
Agreed. Every time they switched either Portis or Lopez out on the Suns guards, they got torched. Didn't make any sense, especially since they had appropriate time to recover to their original man.
But man....Chris Paul. Like others, haven't liked his antics over the years. But from a talent standpoint, I don't feel he has ever gotten his dues. He is as impactful as any player in the league at times, and is just so rock solid. He is a team changer with his ability to orchestrate an offense and just always make the correct play. He was fun to watch last night....just a killer.

Whatever happened to the hard hedge and then getting back to your man!? The Bucks seemed to have over-rotated from drop coverage to switching everything. It's a bit more complicated, but an advanced defense should know how to show against the ball handler and then switch back to the original defender once he recovers.
Read something today about Denver trying that... and the Suns shooting 40% in the corners against it in the series.
With Booker and Paul able to create for themselves and others... from deep or in the mid-range... there may not be any great options for Milwaukee.

Seems like Portis is mobile enough to recover back. We're talking a show, not a trap, yet it seems like Bud only does full on drop coverage or all out switching. But yeah, I guess this is why Phoenix is so damn good. They've got guys like Bridges, Johnson, and Payne that will just kill you from the corners if their guy has to dive to the paint to "help the helper".

Literally might be the most accurate middle-distance jump shooter ever (10-16 feet). He just doesn't miss and appears to have only improved from that distance with age. He's shot 52% from this distance over the last two years. That is unheard of. As a point of comparison, Steph Curry has a career FG% of 46% from that distance and he's the best shooter of all time.

How much are the bucks regretting giving holiday that extention
Re: NBA Finals
Holiday is just Eric Bledsoe

Yikes! He needs to do better. The Suns are just playing incredible basketball though.

Yes. Holiday needs to play better. It's been cringeworthy at times. BUT... this is yet another example of how we can create narratives based on what stats we use. Case in point...
___________________________
The Bucks FINALLY break through to the Finals because of Jrue Holiday!
Eric Bledsoe over 3 years in the playoffs with the Bucks: 13 ppg / 4 reb / 5 apg / 2.5 TO. Last season, he averaged only 11.7 ppg on 38.8% fg. He had only 0.3 WS last season. He actually got worse EVERY year in the playoffs.
Check out this upgrade!
Jrue Holiday: 17 ppg / 6 reb / 8 apg / 2.5 TO / 1.6 WS
Clearly, the difference is Jrue Holiday. Too bad it took the Bucks so long to figure it out.
Re: NBA Finals
This morning I finished watching game 2.
Here are my thoughts on this series so far.
THIS is the Chris Paul that I always wanted to see. Previously Chris Paul would be to unselfish didn't seem to always know when to take over. Most of the games I have seen in this playoffs Chris Paul has been aggressive looking for his and at times masterfully picking his spots and getting guys their's. Ayton has meshed beautifully with him although he wasn't as impactful in game 2 of this series. If Chris Paul stays healthy he might cement himself as one of THE all times great players.
Booker is a star. Imagine when he improves as he has more playoff experience.
Giannis has played 2 fantastic games.
Bridges was terrific espcially in game 2 but what a fantastic role player he is.
Jrue Holiday's defense was amazing in game 2. He just isn't an elite scorer. Middleton needed to do more in game 2 for sure.
Overall the Suns just look like a really damn good team. Cam Johnson it feels like every shot he takes is going to go in. Torrey Craig hopefully is ok. Idk what that guy's measurements are but dude plays big. Having said that the Bucks are a good team and they have some good players even off the bench this weird isn't over.

I think part of Portis problem was he was being too aggressive pressuring whoever had the ball. He plays with great energy but sometimes it probably hurt him. Lopez got burned in game 1 playing smarter so like other have said pick your poison.
I'm not sure that was the thing that hurt the Bucksat least in Game 2. Ultimately the Suns were making more shots and made more plays. Yes that is too simple but that's a lot of what I saw.
