I think both KAT and Reid can hang at PF. KAT's always had that ability and even more so now since trimming down. The fat-boy Reid who showed up in his first season couldn't hang at PF or even C. But he can play PF now. Actually, I think both KAT and Reid, especially Reid, are better suited to the PF position.

Because while I think he'd offer nothing in the playoffs/play-in... he does seem a heckuva lot more intriguing than Monroe next season. He's huge. And bouncy. And he looked good last season.

[Note: To be fair, a guy like Nathan Knight can post numbers in random regular season games, too.]

To be more fair, Moses Brown averaged 8.9 rebounds in 43 games, averaging 21.4 minutes in those games. That's a solid statistical sample of what he can do. I doubt Nathan Knight has had 9 rebounds in more than one or two games. :)

I'm not saying Knight has the rebounding chops of Brown... nor the potential. Only that Knight posted a solid 20/11/4 line in his first start (29 minutes)... yet the Wolves are in big trouble in any meaningful game with him on the court.

To be fair to Nathan Knight if you want to compare last season he played a few games for a team that ended up in the Eastern Conference finals. Meanwhile Moses Brown played a bunch of games for a team that was absolutely tanking. In his 32 starts the team won 6 games. I'm not saying he was the reason for those losses but to compare what each player brought (or didn't bring) that season isn't really a fair comparison. Knight only had 9 or more rebounds twice that season but he never played more than 27 minutes. He only played more than 20mpg 3 times.

And both would get destroyed in the pick and roll action in the playoffs. I'd much prefer another sf/pf type. Or even just a wing that can competently dribble, play a bit of defense, and hit an open 3. I am fine with our guards (hopefully Beverley doesn't get injured yet again).

Also, fuck you Malik Beasley.

I think it's silly to compare the two and Abe was just making an off-the-cut remark anyway. My only point is that Brown has an NBA track record as a really good rebounder - averaging nearly 9 rebounds in 43 games at 21.4 minutes per game last season. Nathan Knight has no meaningful track record. That's why the comparison is silly.

Too bad Gupta didn't take Boston's offer to take Beasley in exchange for Richardson and Nesmith!

Something to think about...Josh Richardson has made 3 out of his last 19 shots in the past 4 games he has played in. He is a more complete player than Beasley but he isn't a consistent shooter either. Keep in mind if the Wolves do that deal they have no open roster spot to sign big damn sexy Moses Brown. :)

It's now March 20th and still no signs of filling that 15th spot. It's pretty clear to me that Taurean Prince won't meet the marks that trigger the incentives included in his contract, which would put Minnesota over the luxury tax threshold.

The Wolves survived Naz Reid being out recently with back spasms, and Karl-Anthony Towns has been able to play through injuries, but this team still needs another big. That's been evident all season and even lately we've been out-rebounded by teams despite still winning -- except for that game against Orlando.

Basically, I'm not sure what the wait is. You could argue they're trying to maintain whatever flexibility they have down the stretch, but the team is thinnest at center right now. This is the most important stretch of the season before the playoffs, or play-in tournament. You can't play Jarred Vanderbilt at the five for long stretches without giving up serious size down low. Why have we not made a move? Did Sachin Gupta vacation to the Bahamas?

FWIW I believe it was Jon K that said they may look at what might be available because of the McDaniels injury. I haven't looked to see what would be available for a combo forward SF type but they do have Layman that could probably play a few minutes in that role and not hurt too much so I kinda agree it should be tile to go ahead and sign someone.

It also helps that Wright is healthy so the worry of a primary ball handler getting hurt shouldn't be an issue the rest of the season. Are 2-way players still not eligible for the playoffs? If not yikes they need to sign a big because not even having Knight as an option seems scary.

I don't think 2-way players are playoff eligible. But even if they are, the Wolves need to sign another big. They've been skating by so far but their on thin ice at that position.
