I think I know what Cool is talking about it's called the bend and snap.

But seriously no I don't think I have ever heard this sound but I'm intrigued to know of it's existence.

I've seen a lot of dunks. But I've never heard that sound. But as a 6 foot guard... my main priority is to get out of there to avoid the 'poster.'

I have no problems being in the poster. These days I'd probably be that guy standing off to the side with his hands on his hips looking up at the spectacle. Honestly the idea of playing ball right now...I'm so out of shape especially basketball shape. It's been like 8 months since I even shot a basketball.

Back in the day... there was simply too much trash talk if you were getting dunked on.

And since there was 0.0% chance I was blocking any of those shots... it was better to just hightail it out of there and laugh at my less fleet-footed taller teammates afterwards.

I've dunked, and I've been near others as they dunked, both opponents and teammates, and I have to admit, I can't tell the difference between the sounds one would make jumping to dunk or jumping to rebound.

My favorite basketball sound is the strings with no rim. As far as baseball, has to be a wooden bat hitting a ball "on the screws" whether it be a HR or double. For Football, it has to be the juggling sound a QB's pads make as he twists his torso to throw the ball,. As far as Hockey, it's the puck hitting the blade on a completed long pass. Soccer, the whiny yelp a player lets out when he gets "carded".

That makes sense.

A friend of mine from the Milwaukee area and I always joke about the trash talk (more like the lack thereof) that was in the Dakotas. I'm sure there was/is some areas there was trash talk but where I was it was pretty tame. For me personally it was always more fun to let your game (or my friend's game I just passed the ball) do the talking.

Also until a certain point in college when there were more athletic players with legit size I had enough leaping ability to make me think I had a shot at challenging someone...whether I did or not was probably up for argument...nicely. Lol jk

Oh. The sounds of sports. Yes.

The other day, I hit a jump shot and somebody from another court said "oooh, that sounded nice." Not looked nice. That's a beautiful sound.

Hitting a tennis ball just right has a nice ting with the strings. Obviously, you know a good drive in golf when you hear it.

For baseball, I love the pop of the glove more than the sound of the bat (although I've been around aluminum bats a lot more than wooden).

Hockey... the skates on the ice as they stop quickly.

Love the sound of sports angle. Interesting that Jim Peterson just mentioned the "sound" of Zach LaVine's jump shot when it goes through cleanly. I've played a lot of wooden bat baseball, and I have to agree that it creates a much better sound than metal bat baseball. Still love baseball "chatter" too...such a unique part of the game. I'm an eager but poor golfer, and I love the sound of a far-too-seldom sweet shot off the tee.

There's one sports sound I don't like at all. Pickleball is getting more popular, and it's actually kind of fun...but the sound of the paddle hitting the hard ball is annoying.

Pickleball is interesting I may have to try it out. Does it have as annoying of a sound with the composite paddles as the wood ones? I have a brand new legit composite paddle I picked up at Walmart last year for cheap.

Hockey has so many great sounds. Here's a few more:

- A puck shot off the pipe or crossbar
- The clap bomb sound of a slapshot
- Sticks clashing on a faceoff
- The national anthems being played in Chicago during the playoffs
- Tape to tape passes
