I was thinking the same thing. The goal has to be improving Andrew's trade value. Maybe there's anoth David Kahn out there running an NBA front office who will see in Wiggins what the real David Kahn saw in Darko. :)

I honestly believe a team would trade for Wiggins without us attaching a 1st just don't think Glen wants to trade him for not positive value

I'm not sure what to think. If you're right, then once again we have to question Glen's judgment.

I actually think the Wizards would take Wiggins straight up for John Wall. Would you do that deal?

I don't think I would.

1) Lost season in 2020. Sunk costs.
2) It's not a broken leg. Or even an ACL. It's an achilles tendon. How many players have come back from that injury to the level they were at previously? How many were guards? How many were PGs whose main assets were speed and explosiveness?
3) Wall came into last season dogged by questions of commitment + conditioning. We saw what happened.
4) The Wizards, for as lousy as they've been this season, have been better without Wall. (11 - 21) vs. (21 - 26).
5) The money. All that money.
6) We know for certain John Wall will never get better. There is still fleeting hope that Wiggins can.

1. We're there already on both counts.
2. Very good point. Wall's not a slam dunk to do much going forward, but at least you as a team can't blind yourself with expectations for him.
3. Correct. My only counter would be that Washington has been every bit as dysfunctional as other bad teams and that can wear on anyone.
4. If they've been better without Wall, we better be really good then since he'll be out most of next year.
5. Same with Wiggins
6. Like I said, I've totally thrown in the towel on Wiggins.

In a vacuum where Wall for Wiggins was even available (I don't think it is), and it's the only offer on the table, I'd rather roll the dice on Wall returning to All-Star level over hoping that Wiggins ever improves to that caliber player.

In the Marine Corps, it's stressed that in a combat environment, you are more likely to resort to your training rather than rise to the occasion. It may sound corny, but I think it's an accurate analogy for this hypothetical situation. Wall has a better chance of returning to the player he was than Wiggins' chance of becoming the player he could be.

Problem with taking Wall it in no way improves our shooting from the arc. It also handicaps the ability to afford shooters to put around him.

Washington would definitely trade Wall for Wiggins. Wall and Beal do not like each other. That is well known. I would not do this trade as the wolves. I think we could trade Wiggins this summer without giving up a FRP if we wanted to. It would be interesting to see for what exactly.

I believe if you wanted to get rid of Wiggins and didn't care what the return was, you could find multiple suitors. I really can't see a scenario where you would have to "pay" to get rid of him. He's overpaid but not without value.

What value does he bring? Is he a premier scorer? Is he a facilitator? What about a 3P-shooting threat? Alright, perhaps he's a hustling game-changer? Lockdown man defender? Good team defender? Objectively, it's a no to all of those.

Like, what value does he actually bring besides being a warm body on the court? It's not there. He is overpaid and brings next to nothing on the court. What points he does score, he does so inefficiently. And he gets that volume of shots/touches due to situation only. The Wolves just simply don't have anyone besides Towns that's used to shooting 15-20 times a game.

I think Wall makes 10 more million per than Wiggins as well. Maybe I'm wrong, I would not do that deal. Wall isn't that good when healthy. Sure Wiggins sucks, but Wall wouldn't move the needle at all for what he is paid.

I think if you're going to trade Andrew, you don't want to take on even more salary.

That's what Jon K seemed to imply, also said that the Wolves didn't want to give him up for nothing. Mitchell was still pretty passionate about Wiggins on Doogies podcast. It was a good listen. If we need to pay I'd rather wait it out.
