I agree in a sense that when you have a true superstar you can over come bad coaching but KAT and DLO have proved that there not good enough to be able to do that.

With that be saying said you can't tell me if guy like Spolestra or Pop had this roster they wouldn't be at least .500

2017 took the heat to 6th seed with a starting line up of

Dragic
Old man wade
Richardson 2nd year
James Johnson
Whitside

I know I'm cherry picking one team
But I'm sure there other examples of good coaches getting crap teams to the playoffs.

There's no question in my mind that this team would have won more games thus far with a better head coach, but the Wolves would still end up on the outside looking in on the playoffs at the end of the season.

I think our roster is a bigger problem than our head coach, although both are problematic. For example, I think having Julius Randle instead of Rubio would have made a bigger difference than a better head coach. That's something Rosas could have done and it's just one of many examples.

My counter is Randle has been considered a negative in his career, as a ball hog and bad defender. Now that he has a good coach in thibs and he is a positive for his 1st time in his life. Just something to think about. Rubio is having his worse year of his career coming off a career year. Why is that? Just some thought. Not trying to defend Rosas

Ryan took a bat to Rubio's legs so he couldn't jump or shoot. Did that to JO's arms too. The players can't shoot because Ryan keeps hurting them.

Spoelstra sucks this year, he doesn't know how to coach anymore. Same with Pop, Pop hasn't been a good coach for a long time. He keeps ruining the players. I bet both coaches don't win a Championship this season.

Julius Randle is another great example of a very talented, very gifted player that has been stuck playing for bad teams most of his career. But when he did have competent players and coaching around him he has been good, specifically being that year in New Orleans and this season with New York. I'm happy for him and would have been excited about acquiring him this off-season. Another one of those "oh well" moments for me as a Minnesota sports fan.

I think Randle is also an example of how some guys just need more time to get good. Yes, the year before last was good, but it took him some time to get to that point. And now he is having a career year in Year 7.

Kyle Lowry really hit his stride in year 8, at age 27. He was solid before that, but year 8 is when he REALLY started being good.

Khris MIddleton is another guy that took his game to another level in his 8th season, age 28. He is a full tier better in his age 28 & 29 seasons versus the few years prior to that.

DeRozan, a guy I'm not that fond of but who definitely can create offense on his own, is another player that started to really play better in Year 7, age 26.

We might be seeing a somewhat lesser version of this with Malik Beasley, He's definitely made a step-wise improvement this season, his fifth in the league. And it's not just because of more minutes. His per minute numbers are mostly at career highs too, so he's just plain better.
