I don't think that's realistic.
Would love to hear your idea.

IMO the Wolves would basically have to throw about every positive asset not named Towns to make this deal happen.
Let's make it real easy. AD just asked for a trade from the franchise that drafted him. His coach has been with him for a couple years. The Wolves have 2 more wins than the Pelicans do and NO has had a bunch of injuries. Meanwhile the Wolves are coming out of a terrible situation with Butler have an interim coach and possibly a lame duck GM. AD has no clue who would be coaching him or calling the shots a few months from now. It makes no sense for him to come here. He may as well stay in NO who has actually made some good moves te last couple offseasons than be traded to this dumpster fire. Yeah it's a little harsh but really... It's more realistic to joke about trade ideas than actually come up with realistic ones to get AD. It kinda sucks but...a couple years or a few months from now we could be in the right spot to get the next guy who wants to change zip codes. Making the playoffs even as an 8th seed this year could help with that so there is some value in that which gets lost at times.

monster laid it out nicely...
But we've talked about Teague and Wiggins being liabilities with the money owed each of them. Why would NO give up a Top 5-esque player for two terrible contracts and two middling/bad 1st round picks?

So what you're saying is we are not a good trade partner for NO. I get that. Although i don't see Teague's contract as a liability. If traded he's probably going to opt out, which would be good for the Pels. Once they trade AD they need to do a classic rebuild anyway.

There are going to be so much better offers for AD. Just some offers that Zach Lowe thinks that the pelicans are going to receive.
Lakers: Ball/Kuzma/Ingram/1st
Celtics: Taytum/rozier and a 1st or Hayward/ brown/ Rozier/ smart/ kings pick and Grizzlies pick.
Knicks: Porzingas and an unprotected 1st (could be zion)
76ers: Butler/fultz/ heat 2021 unprotected 1st or Ben Simmons and filler.
Raptors: Siakam/OG/Valuncunics/1st
Nets: Russell/Allen/ 2 1sts
Bulls: Marrkannan/Carter/unprotected 1st
Nuggets: Murray/ Barton/Lyles and picks
Kings: Hield/Bagley and picks.
All those offers are better then we can offer that don't include Towns. We don't have good young players like the other teams do. Now maybe we can get in on Holiday or Mirotic or Randle but we are not even close to be able to acquire AD

It would be kinda funny if Buddy got traded back to the Pels for another Uber talented UK big.
On Teague opting out...(not that it really matters) Maybe he won't want to be there (or here) but Wade and Melo didn't want to be where they were they wanted their money. They opted in got paid all their money (or most of it) and moved on. The Pels (or any team acquiring him) would have to assume he was gonna get most of that money next season. Sure there is a decent chance he opts out but I wouldn't plan for that especially in negotiating a trade. Of course an expiring deal could have some value for a team at some point whether it's us or another team. Plus Teague can actually play...assuming he doesn't get injured again.

Why would Teague opt out?
I don't see any team taking him on a long-term deal. So he's turning down $19M for a 3 year $36M deal or something similar?
I dunno. I'd think he could play out next year and then sign a 2 or 3 year deal at age 31 and still come out ahead. But we'll see.

I assume Rich Paul is going to push for a trade sooner or later... IF Davis really wants to be in LAL.
But wouldn't it serve the Pelicans to wait until the summer when the lottery is set and the Celtics (with the biggest cache of talent + picks) can up the ante a bit more?

Yep. Also if the lakers can acquire AD in the offseason. They could sign a max guy first then trade for AD. If they trade for AD now they don't have max free agent money.
I'm guessing the lakers don't want to gamble on that though if they don't have to

The reason I have thought he might opt out is that a lot of teams have cap space this offseason and next offseason the money is more diluted. So less teams and less money to be offered to Teague in 2020
