Time to pursue Noah. But honestly, I won't complain about the Rose signing. If he can hold up physically, he can help. If it were me, I'd be shopping Jeff Teague.
If he wanted Rose so bad, why the hell did he pursue Jeff Teague so aggressively?
I don't want Noah here. I think Crunch is the only mascot this team needs.
Because Teague is the better player. Teague has been super healthy throughout his career. Also why is it bad to have both of them if Rose plays well. Also Im guessing Rose plays almost only SG with the Wolves.
Because neither wanna defend well and Rose can't shoot and Teague seemingly doesn't wanna shoot.
because Rose at SG kinda renders Josh Okogie useless in year 1. Might as well buy an apartment in Iowa.
These signings are all window dressing anyway. This upcoming season will all come down to whether Towns wants to play defense and whether Wiggins wants to permanently be considered wasted talent.
That second paragraph I 100% agree with. Just think the ceiling is super high when Teague is playing real well
Personally I think if you have a healthy Teague, Tyus and Rose it's a good problem to have. I'll be surprised if Rose can hold together for 60 games (plus Jimmy is likely to miss some games as well) so there will be plenty of opportunity for Okogie to get on the court. There is a real chance Rose is a legit good player and if so it would be a real blast for this team. Both Teague and Tyus I think are guys that could work playing with him.

If Rose can give us more than Jamal and the rest of our signings can give us more than Belly we're a better team than last year without a major move. Seems like a real possibility.

Absolutely horrible signing. What are our two biggest needs? Defense and outside shooting. He does neither well. Yes, he had a couple of good playoff games. That is small sample size theater. I trust the past 6,000 minutes of basketball he's played more than those two games. And he is Jamaal Crawford bad.

This is the first in a thread of tweets about Rose's shoe deal with Adidas.

"By being on a NBA roster, DRose's Adidas contract kicks in and will pay him more than $14.5 Million for the 2018-19 season. He'll wear the DRose 9 signature shoe this year."

I don't disagree wholeheartedly with you but he done something that only Teague really does and that is best people off the dribble

I really liked the energy, tenacity, ballhandling and dribble-penetration that Rose brought to the team last last season and in the playoffs. But I generally agree with Q that we just used $1.5 million of room under the luxury tax to sign a physically fragile veteran who lacks the two capabilities we need the most -- perimeter defense and 3-point shooting. Thibodeau's obsession with his former Bulls players borders on pathological. Playing amateur psychologist, I'll speculate that Thibodeau's obvious obsession with control leads him to focus on acquiring players who he's already trained to do exactly what he wants. I thought it was interesting listening to Layden at the FA press conference. He kept saying that they're looking for free agents "who fit coach's system." What I wouldn't give for an organization that seeks out the best talent and hires a head coach who adapts his system to the talent he's given, which is exactly what Popovich and Carlisle do so well.

Rose attacks the defense which Tyus won't do. You can't just play a bunch of shooters around Tyus. He doesn't make a defense move. Rose is not perfect but he fills a skillset the bench needs and it's a better skillset than Crawford chucking up jumpers. The whole reason Tyus works with the starters well is he can just move the ball and let Jimmy and Wiggins do the dribble penetration. We need another guy to do that off the bench and Rose does it. He also was pretty solid defensively for us. He certainly has his games where he doesn't have it an needs to be pulled but so do most bench players. But often last year he brought great energy, attacked the basket and hit his corner 3's at a great albeit unsustainable clip. This is a vet minimum deal for a guy who made a big impact in the playoffs.

Fine, then make sure Jimmy, Teague, or KAT are always in the game (don't think Wiggins with the bench does much for us). Nothing wrong with a Teague/Tyus back court for stretches.
Also, there are ways to create offense without isolation dribble drives. And I don't even think Rose is very good at that anymore. The bottom line is that he has been a net negative on the court for 4 out of the last 5 seasons, including the last three in a row. There is no reason to believe that's going to suddenly change.

Based on Taj last year and rose in limited time with us, I'm willing to give any of Thibs former Bulls a chance on a good contract. He has a way with his guys. No one here or anywhere I remember thought the Taj deal was a great deal. I remember a few here being ok or happy with it but everyone thought we could have done better. Last year I thought no one played to the value of their contract more than Taj. I expect the same from Rose. We're going to be getting more than vet min contributions from him, and I highly doubt we had better options for that price.

I respect your take Q but I'll bring up again Rose has been taking a higher percentage of his shots at the rim (over 40%) the past 2 years and converting them at a good rate. There is some value there espcially when his passing for a bench scorer is likely above average. This is a vet min deal there is some upside if he can stay healthy which obviously is a big if.
