I don't think you guys are fully appreciating the impact that Blake Griffin has on the court. He's an elite talent in the game still, whether you like him or hate him. Him and Andre Drummond just became a pretty fearsome frontcourt duo and now the Pistons surge into the playoffs is almost guaranteed. Also, with the Wizards losing John Wall for a period of time, who knows what seed they'll nab.

Cam, I agree he is an elite player. The looming issue is that he has played 65% of their games the past 3 seasons. I certainly wouldn't feel comfortable with that track record for $180MM. I think IF he stays healthy, it is a good move for Detroit. But I would be nervous.....

Tobias Harris is a nice player. He turns 26 in July. Both teams are taking a gamble in different ways on this trade mostly centered on how good and healthy Blake is or isn't. If you wonder if the Clippers could have done better in terms of assets...well they don't want to do a complete rebuild. If they did I bet they could extract a 1st rounder for Harris. In some ways I see the Clippers team right now looking similar to the Celtics of the last couple years a bunch of pretty good players that if they play well together are gonna be hard to play against. Doc Rivers has done a pretty good job this season already with some guys off the scrap heap. It will be interesting to see how it goes from here.

If it was me...I wouldn't gamble my job on Blake Griffin being healthy and I said that last offseason. I hate saying that because he is a wonderful talent and although he annoys me quite a lot there is also part of me that likes him too.

I get the trade from Detroit's perspective, but as others mentioned, this is probably a longer term win for the Clippers. I agree with Monster on Tobias Harris - very nice player. He can't carry the same work load as Blake Griffin, but he is very solid.

I like this trade for both teams, especially the Clippers. Avery Bradley is one of those players whose impact doesnt show up in the box score. If they resign him they will have one of the best defensive back courts in the NBA with him and Pat Beverley. Tobias Harris has had a career year in PPG and 3pt %, so atleast fills a bit of the hole Griffins departure has created. And Marjonivic is far from a throw in. Also a 1st round pick.

https://www.si.com/nba/2018/01/31/blake-griffin-clippers-pistons-trade-max-contract-free-agency Interesting take. There is a mention of wolves overpaying for Gorgui and Wiggins.
