If RoCo is that important to this team, then the team has a serious problem. I love Roco, but he shouldn't be that crucial to the team. Look at what Denver has done without Barton for most of the season and without Harris for a number of games.

Why shouldn't be that crucial. He is probably the 2nd best player on our team outside of Kat.

I mean look at when Gobert was out last year, the jazz where shit.

When you take out a 1st team all defensive player your team is going to suffer.

No excuses though if he can play he shouldn't get a pass for playing bad. If the injury is affecting him this much he should rest. But in general I think you are underestimating the importance of RoCo and you are comparing him to a 6th man and the 4th best player on the nuggets

Yeah, it should be no surprise that this team struggles without Rob...his defensive stats when healthy are extraordinary, and anyone could see he wasn't himself the past two games. Barton is a good player, but his absence just isn't going to have the same impact as losing perhaps the best defensive player in the league. I wonder how Denver would play without Jokic. Philadelphia has some great players, but when they played without their best defensive player (Butler) they lost at home to an 11-18 team. Defense matters, and unfortunately the Wolves have proven they can't play defense without a guy like healthy RoCo (or Butler) on the court.

It's also not like the Wolves got trucked but 20 or 30 or lost to some crappy team. They lost to 2 playoff teams in Portland and GS and a solid one in the Kings all on the road. It's not like they played like total crap these last 3 games or something.

I think we overrate our bench a tad. Whenever we lose a starter that eats big minutes, this team has always struggled.

Lose butler=struggle
Lose cov=struggle
Lose wiggins= we werent great
Lose kat= unknown because he's an ironman, but safe to say we would struggle.

Pg and maybe pf are the only spots we wouldnt struggle because we do have quality depth there.

The team loses more on defence when RoCo is out than they lose on offense when KAT is out. KAT may be their most talented player, but RoCo is their most irreplaceable IMO.

Getting this thread back on topic...what are you looking for in this year's pick? Fill a need. BPA. Would you pick a wing if he were the best guy on the board?

I would take BPA unless the need and the BPA are very closely rated. Especially if you get into the top 3, you take BPA because you are looking for a superstar, not just a small upgrade over Saric or Roco. I'd even take a "center". Great players can defend multiple positions and hit the open 3 on offense. KAT can play the 4 if a better inside defender is drafted for instance. If we had Gobert this defense would be elite for instance and offensively not suffer to much.

Yeah, I"m not ready to start talking draft yet either. We're only 2 1/2 games out, and we just finished an 0-3 stretch that I'm confident would have been 2-1 if RoCo had been anywhere close to 100%. He was clearly not hmself in the last 2 games, and that has a major impact on our defense. 141 points, my god.

I think you missed my point. I'm not underestimating RoCo's importance to the team. I actually agree that he's the second best/most important player on this team after KAT. That's the problem. RoCo is s terrific player, but he's not even allstar caliber. You can't go far in the NBA with only one star - in this case KAT. When your second best player, even a very good player like RoCo, isn't even an allstar caliber player, your team isn't going to go far, especially in the West. That's what I meant. This team needs a second star/allstar to pair with KAT. I like this team with RoCo as the team's 3rd or 4th best player as he was for the Sixers, but not as our second best player.

Best ball-handler, shot-creator available -- regardless of position.

That's what I'm thinking as well (obviously won't be a 5) but any playmaker 1-4.

All 3 of our wings are not great at ball handling. We don't know if teavie will be back. What rose will cost, what Dario will cost after next year, if we will keep taj, and what tyus will get paid or is capable of.
