Feels like you are over-rotating on this. I am reading through these threads and not seeing people thinking DLO is the savior of the franchise, yet you are reacting as if you MUST convince us that DLO isn't the franchise superstar we've all been hoping for.
If I'm over-rotating as you say, it's for one reason. And that reason is I want the membership to remember I was saying this isn't going to work from the beginning. Not after 5 games, 10 games, 50 games or 3 seasons. I want no misunderstanding what my stance was on the day of the trade.
You also told us early in the season to just be patient, the team will improve as the season goes on...just wait and see. The exact opposite happened. The entire locker room was imploding and Rosas had to do something.

I honestly think a Towns/DLo vs the world vibe might work with their mentality. Theoretically the skill set should be complimentary. The rest of the team needs to be shooters and defenders. At this point Im cool with trying a Millennial approach. Its not like we got leadership out of Towns any other way. Let's get weird.
To be fair... I think James straddles that millennial line pretty well himself in many ways.
In fact, I think a lot of the younger guys have been keenly watching the off-court moves he's been making for the past 15 years...

Your stance here is hardly a bold one.
Since I'm the only one making it, it would seem quite bold to me. Try sticking your neck out once in a while instead of only pouncing on those with strong opinions.

LeBron is a Millennial according to most definitions. Ages ~20-37. Maybe you were one and didn't know it? lol

It's not a bold stance or a strong opinion to claim a team that has only ever made it out of the first round once will not do it again for 8 years. That's called the norm. Making it out of the first round would be an outlier. Vegas would make you bet a million to win a dollar with your prediction. The rest of us just don't need to make a senseless proclamation that the same thing will just keep happening. You aren't sticking your neck out at all on this one. You are literally making the all time easiest prediction that the Wolves are still gonna suck. What's next for you? Water is wet? The sun is hot?

So you agree with me? If so, don't tout this as a good move for the franchise. It might help put some more fans in the seats for while. And we may win a few more games. That may be success to you but after 33 years it's not good enough for me.
Let me ask you this. Is there any other team in the league you would definitively say the same thing about? I wouldn't. Over 8 years every team should have the expectation they will win a playoff series. It's really not that difficult. Except when you commit to proven losers as your cornerstone. So yes, when you wouldn't say the same thing about any other franchise, it's not a slam dunk to make this prediction.
The Wolves are closer to making the playoffs today... than they were yesterday.
I'm pretty sure there were better players to pair with Towns than Russell. Maybe some of them were possible to acquire. I dunno. But I do know it was time for Wiggins to move on, because it simply didn't work out here.
The franchise needed it. The player needed it. NOW, the Wolves can move forward. Hopefully, it won't be another 8 years or 13 years or 15 years... but at least it's a different path forward where they're not bashing their head into the same ceiling with the same ladder.
So as much as it's not really a Wiggins vs. Russell thing... it sort of is. For good or bad.

I agree. Lebron is the hybrid transition figure. Once he is gone the legacy via wins/championships will likely fully be replaced by the impact on culture as a measure for success. He definitely straddled both worlds in a unique way. Teams are already embracing these approaches collectively. The Clippers acquired George to get what Kwahi wanted, by all accounts Houston got Westbrook to appease Harden. Teams up and down need a player first culture where ideas of leadership are unique and more horizontal. Giannis might buck that trend a bit, but if he doesnt get a chip in the next 5 years he might cave too.

I'm hoping Giannis changes things, too. I'm upset you used the pun first.
Reports out of Golden State are that guys inside the locker room had soured on DLO. Apparently his disinterest in defense rubbed people the wrong way. That's encouraging.
