Thanks for posting, CC! This is a brilliant article. I think it's the definitive critique of Thibodeau as a bad coach and poor PBO. The article also properly holds Glen Taylor accountable for leaving McHale in place too long to effectively build around Garnett. It's frustrating to see history repeating itself with Glen's decision to hire Thibodeau and his current delay terminating him.
Not only should the Wolves staff read this article; they should hire the writer, Jonathan Tjarks, to work in the front office.

Finally read this article. It is a good one. It also highlighted the contradictory nature of Thibs, who talks so much about defense, yet then goes out and acquires non-defenders like Crawford and tries to sign Shabazz to what would have been a horrific deal a couple offseasons ago.
He seems to have a weak spot for iso-players that can create their own shots, even if it's not the most efficient variety. It's why he got rid of Rubio for Teague and why he's been a reluctant Tyus Jones backer.
Go look at the Tyus/KAT player pair lineup combination from the last couple of years. Those two should be on the floor together way more often.
The only video interview from camp yesterday was Thibs. At least a third of the questions were trying to get him to comment on the Butler situation. Thibs actually seemed a bit lighthearted through the process.

Yeah, I watched that interview. That dude is such a grinder. "Do your job!". There is a part of me that admires his no-nonsense workmanlike approach. It's unfortunate some of his actions belie his tough talk and that his style hasn't really worked very well with some of the younger players.

Yes, I also like that the article recognized some of the inconsistencies between Thibodeau's rhetoric and actions. You mentioned one where Thibs the head coach preached defense while Thibs the PBO brought in Crawford, exchanged Rubio for Teague, signed Derrick Rose and tried to sign Bazz to what would have been a contract that rivaled the idiocy of the contract David Kahn gave Darko. Another was Thibodeau talking about the need for more 3-point shooing while (1) adding more mid-range shooters to the roster (Butler, Crawford, Rose), (2) trading away one of the Wolves two 3-point marksmen (LaVine), (3) failing to bring in any true 3-point marksmen through trades or free agency, (4) failing to take full advantage KAT's elite 3-point shooting prowess as the article points out, and (5) coaching the team to the bottom of the League in 3-point attempts.
I'll add one more not so obvious example to the list. That is, Thibodeau giving Gorgui a huge contract, calling him the Wolves' most improved player the following summer, but then spending a lot of money to sign Taj Gibson and replacing Gorgui with Taj in the starting lineup. I'm not saying Thibodeau shouldn't have signed Taj. But the signing and coaching decision to replace Gorgui in the starting lineup did not line up with Thibodeau's words and actions regarding Gorgui.

Having guys that can iso and get their own shot hides thibs' inability to implement a team offense.

Correct. And Thibodeau is too controlling and stubborn to hire and rely on a top assistant to design and run the offense.

Lot of ripping of thibs offense for the wolves finishing in 3rd place in the category.

I'm curious to see what the offense looks like this season and here are some reasons for optimism.
1. I think Butler is a terrific player and is a very good offensive player BUT he also fed intro he ISO stuff a lot especially at the end of the game. He also was rarely running up the floor to make the game a fast paced one. Inserting a different player other than Butler into this offense could add 3 point shooting increase the pace and add some more ball movement.
2. The starting lineup excluding Butler will have had a entire season to have more of the hey I know what this guy is gina do likes to do etc. on top of that they will likely all have a bit more of an increased role which could help everyone. Teague is a key again.
3. Thibs has brought in guys that will be depth prices that actually make sense for a team looking to share the ball more etc. Rose is the exception but I still see the potential for him being a guy that helps others more than Crawford.
4. I'm curious to see what Thins is going to do in general with his offense. I think he is actually looking to do more things that pretty much everyone on this board wants to see in terms of rotations mixing and matching guys etc. We have to see it first to believe it but I have a sliver of hope. Do I think it will be enough? Probably not but I'm hoping it moves in a positive direction.

Monster -- Your analysis is really good and I agree with it. But I have absolutely no confidence in Thibideau changing his ways and doing what you're suggesting. And honestly, I still can't believe Glen Taylor is keeping Thibodeau around for another season.
