What do you mean? You dig that Rose has the balls to ask publicly for max from the Knicks?? I'm confused.

Rose has 25 million coming off the books. That would be a lot of money for us to sign someone next year.

LOL, I thought you suggested signing Rose in FA. My bad.

Yeah, we could go the expiring route, but that's not really getting any value for Rubio. We'll already have cap space this summer to make a reasonable splash. And if you dump him, that's another position you have to spend cap on. In my opinion, that's the lazy way to go, though not the worst option, if that makes sense.

Edit: If we were to do this, which I doubt we will, we'd have to be really aggressive in pursuing Jrue Holiday. When healthy, he's a fringe All-Star caliber do-it-all type point guard. I like him. The problem? He has injury concerns, off-the-court issues (through no fault of his own and I hope his wife is recovering), and he's going to command a healthy sum. Is that a risk worth taking? Or we sign someone like Darren Collison to be our starter, who I've mentioned before. My problem with that is we could do that particular move without dumping Rubio first.

The flip is if we signed a PG while keeping Rubio we still have no leverage and have a whole year next year of a stiff on the roster (the stiff being whoever we trade Rubio for not Rubio himself). I'd rather have the options with the money and control our destiny than the poo poo platter we would see when teams knew we have to trade Rubio. I'm sure Philly is in that stage right now with their bigs and is probably why they haven't moved Noel/Okafor yet.

Also if we traded Rubio for cap space maybe we sign a second tier point but it makes us legit contenders for Milsap/Ibaka. The extra 12 mil would make a real contact more palatable. Like how about trying to sign Patty Mills and Ibaka? That would be a great off season if we lost Ricky for cap space.

I would love to do something like rubio, bazz for Collison, possibly Casspi and a 2019 unprotected 1st (cousins could be gone)

Unless Dunn and Tyus are ready it seems like they would have to sign some sort of vet PG. Unless you are ok with an Aaron's brooks level guy those fring backup PGs pulled in 10 million or more last year and the price may go up. So trading Rubio for cap space may not get you space just space to sign another player which could be good...but there is no guarantee either. There may be a value/bargain guy or 2 but will he want to come here and will the Wolves want thim? I think I would rather Keep Rubio than dump him for cap space because like it has been said the Wolves will have plenty. His contract is pretty reasonable and it will keep looking that way as time goes on.

I would take Patty Mills over Rubio. But I wouldn't be heartbroken if we kept him.
