Rodney Hood and Ricky Rubio just couldn't work it out on the floor. With both of them on the court, almost everybody's net rating became a negative. With Rubio on and Hood off, almost everyone was a positive player including Rubio. I think Utah's FO made a good decision.

As for the Rose to Minnesota rumor, I don't get it. I don't think I'd trade any of our point guards in a one for one swap for him. And he's one of my least favorite people/players in the league.

Hood is also an RFA so they just didn't want to pay him. They got something for someone they were likely going to lose in the offseason. Can't blame them too much.

Oh my God no. One of my most disliked players in the league. It started back in college when he never attended a single class yet played for a national championship. Now he's a full on head case with very little to offer. Why would we do this?

I'd be entertained by how angry Rose would make people here that is for sure.

IF we were going to have a reunion with a player that formerly played for Thibs and was bought out, I'd be open to Luol Deng or Joakim Noah. Hell, Mike Dunleavy might even have a little something left in the tank. I don't think any of them would really give us much, though. But Derrick Rose is washed and more problem than production. I would bet we stay away from him given the situation we have at point guard with Jeff Teague, Tyus Jones, and Aaron Brooks. We're set there. Find some depth at the wings instead.

Jon K thinks it is going to happen and I would say he is the most plugged into the wolves.

Also didn't butler and rose have a beef at the end of there time in Chicago (jimmy, loul, taj vs rose and noah). I could be remembering incorrectly though

Just a woefully regressing Jae Crowder?

....and they were already limited in terms of guys that can score in volume, so now they swapped one of their few shot makers for a role player. Interesting. May be they just felt Hood will never stay healthy (?) and Crowder is on a pretty cheap deal.

Oh, and they are in the middle of a 7-game win streak!

Utah could be buying low on Crowder. Remember when Toronto had to pay a bunch of picks to get rid of Carrol and his salary and now Carrol looks like a worthwhile player and is likely an asset for the Nets? Crowder could be that guy and he is pretty cheap. They didn't seem like they wanted to pay Hood so trading him and getting a guy in Crowder that a few months ago was considered a nice asset makes sense. Maybe Crowder was made to look better than he is by Brad Stevens but it's not the worst gamble for a guy that turns 28 in July. He seems like a guy that would kinda fit into what Utah is doing. They did send some cash to the Kings but they probably saved money in this deal also which ain't bad. It's kinda funny George Hill is in this deal with Utah involved.

I didn't believe the report at first, but if Jon K thinks it's going to happen then it will. That's depressing. Why in the hell would we sign D. Rose. He has nothing left except the mental baggage he's always had. Is this linked to an upcoming trade of Teague or Tyus? I just don't get it. I still find it hard to believe that Thibs would even consider signing Rose. If he does, it will be a reminder of why no organization should give one individual total control.

I saw Jon K's tweet. I think he's by far the most clued-in Wolves reporter, but I don't see a Rose acquisition happening. That's a move that could rock the boat in a negative way and it's not at a position of need. I continue to think the rumors about Thibs bringing former players back are amped up way too much. We heard trade rumors last year of Rubio for Rose and they weren't even close to being true.

We'd be better suited to go after Marco Bellineli very aggressively, and even re-sign him in the offseason. Pursuing Tony Allen could be another route. Both options are viable and much more conducive to winning than a reunion with an inefficient, defensive liability and non-shooting scorer like Rose.
