Whiteside has a monstrous wingspan, KAT just doesn't have it. Whiteside is a defensive wall. KAT is a good all-around-er. I don't see what's wrong in having a KAT-HW frontcourt, even if it's at the expense of Wiggins. It would be great defensively (and even offensively) and no team would go small against it.

Because you are overvaluing Whiteside's defensive impact because he is big and blocks shots. The Heat were 0.6 points per 100 possessions better defensively with him off the court than on last year and the year before that they were 2.5 points per 100 possession better with him on the bench. They were at 110 and 105.8 defensively with him on the court so they haven't been a good defensive team with him as the anchor and yet you have him coming here and being the anchor we are missing when the stats don't back that up.

To be fair... didn't he make incredible strides with that the second half of the season in Miami last season? What about this season?
I'm not advocating for him or anything. But I remember that being a story last season.

Towns turned 21 and we are comparing him to Whiteside who around 2 years ago was a d-league player. It seems possible Towns could like figure out how to be a pretty good defensive player as well as get quite a bit stronger. Whiteside is very long though. Whiteside's brain was the problem that kept him from being in the league.

82games isn't as reliable in season as after as they only update the site 3-4 times per season. They only have 8 games worth of stats for him this year and he is 0.2 points per 100 possessions better on the court than off, but still at 105.5 overall which is better than Towns by a lot right now, but not at an elite level overall.

I would have to requirements to sign off on that trade:
1. Boogie would have to sign an extension.
2. I'd only trade for Boogie's talent, Sac has to keep his headcase issues.

But let me know what you think about this proposed trade I saw recently:
Wiggins for Whiteside & Winslow.
We get a chance to fix our defense. Miami gets a potential long term 1st option on offense.
I'd do this in a heartbeat. Winslow and Whiteside would be great compliments to KAT and LaVine. I don't see Miami going for it though .
Wiggins for Cousins gives me pause. I can't say I wouldn't do that trade or that I would be glad we did.

Cousins has a ton of talent and value, but I dunno if he is a great fit next to Towns. Both are big talented dudes that demand a lot of touches, shoot from the outside a bit more than they should, and don't play great D.
It would depend greatly on whether Cousins would (1) re-sign here (2) get along with Thibs and buy into defense and (3) find a way to co-exist with Towns. That is a lot of ifs.

Why not Rubio, Dieng, Shabazz, and top 5 protected ick for Boogie?
I think Thibs has an idea what he can get of these guys. I think that is the bonus of him coaching Team USA.

Agreed. Rim protector. Do-shit wing.
But doesn't Miami love both of those guys? I don't see Miami going for it either. The Wolves would have to offer significantly more.
