He can stay far, far away from this team.
Couldn't agree more. Can't say I wasn't a fan of his prior to that happening, but I wouldn't want him anywhere near our team now.
If we were winning, I'd agree. But we are one of the worst teams now and he'd fit a couple huge needs to give us a premier defensive big and put some energy or crazy into our lethargic team.
He just isn't reliable. Not only does his illness cause concern, he was also an injury waiting to happen when he was younger. I can only imagine how many games he would miss now.

He's battled depression and anxiety issues. It is considered an illness. I'm fine with him seeking treatment for this. I am 100% fine with Larry Sanders. Plus, you couldn't find a better defender that you could sign off the street.
Well, considering he hasn't played in the NBA in like two or three years, that's a pretty bold statement. I'd argue we could go get Tayshaun Prince instead to play off the bench and we'd see a decent uptick in our defense.

What, is he looking to play again or something? Do we really think a guy that quit the league a couple years ago can come back and do better than Aldrich, Dieng, or KAT - those are the guys whose minutes he'd take. I certainly agree that in his prime, he was a very strong presence in the paint.

Actually, he got hit in the eye and had an orbital eye injury that was freakish. I don't think he has any chronic injuries. Plus, signing him for cheap casts any of these worries aside.
I say we just let Thibs work with this team and see what happens. It hasn't been all bad. Something happened for us to get all those leads we've lost. Sometimes you have to take a couple steps back before you can move forward.

Defensively, he could be our best player pretty quickly. It would also help us to move Belly to small forward permanently where he is better suited.

I seem to remember recurring back trouble.
Games played in his 5 year career
60
52 (lockout season)
71
23
27
His high in minutes per game was his third season. So whatever the deal was he wasn't exactly a picture of health.
Let's be honest if the guy isn't completely insane and can still ball he is going to end up on an NBA roster. I'm pretty skeptical he would just come back and immediately be so good defensively. Is there like a date circled every year as start a Larry Sanders thread? I feel like this has been discussed a couple different times over the years. I know he has talked this calendar year about coming back. Like I said if he can play and he comes at a bargain contract sure...maybe...we'll maybe not considering all the stuff he has going on since we have a young team. He seems more like a guy that should go to a contender...GS needs more rim protection and it would be fun to see him and McGee together on the same team right? ;)
Low risk, high reward. We aren't getting anything out of Lucas, Hill, Pek and Rush is now racking up DNPs. Sign him to a cheap deal with a team option. If he don't work out you cut him. No risk. I wanted to keep KG, but Thibs and KG couldn't co-exist. We could really use someone with some defensive fire in the paint.
