Q12543 wrote:Monster, thanks for the write-up on the G-league guys. Honestly, I don't see much there. Patton might be our only hope in terms of existing prospects in the pipeline. Of course, he's still hurt while the rest of the league's rookies are seemingly lighting up the league!

Q based on a couple games these are the guys I think have a chance or are guys to watch.

Has a chance:

Amile Jefferson. Plays hard knows his role and has some solid all around skills.

Anthony Brown. Just being a guy instead of being the guy he may be more useful assuming he can hit shots.

I'll be watching:

Trimble looks quicker than I expected. Needs to find balance and reign in his game. There are a ton of PGs out there so I'm not holding out hope but I wouldn't be shocked if he figured it out.

Millsap. Classic AAAA player but could probably come up to and NBA team and at least defend. Fun guy to watch.

Washpun probably won't make it but he is fun to watch with his athletic ability. Kind of a Norris Cole type. If he can hit 3's he may have an outside chance as a hard guy to play against and 3 guy. Stuff happens when he is on the floor.

Game report Grundge match Millsap vs Anthony Bennett

Bennett started off hot hitting a 3 and getting a couple offensive boards. He then showed nearly no resistance on D both as players went into the lane and Jefferson schooling him for some very easy looks. Jefferson scores the first 10 points for the Wolves. Bennett also went on the show off his hands of stone the rest of the half. He started off with some positive play but less than 4 mins in after missing a look at the rim he just stands there after the offensive rebound looking gassed. He basically stepped out of the way when Trimble had a transition drive the next possession and fortunately for him Trimble bothched an easy layup. Bennett checked up when there was a stoppage during the Suns next possession.

Derrick Jones Jr showed some hustle length and athletism.

Booker and Silas were red hot from 3. The Wolves left them open at times.

Hollis Jefferson's older brother was long athletic and cause havoc on d but offensively was far from polished but still did some good things getting a couple outbacks.

Wolves

Anthony Brown looked bad.

MGH was pretty good. He sorta reminds me of Butler. He has a better shot and obviously less explosive but there are similarities. One thing he does well is he can hang in the air and release the ball to finish right before he lands. He doesn't get up incredibly high but he has good control plus he is strong. He looks very comfortable out there one of the best plays he made was a very nice skip pass to someone wide open for 3. He had several nice passes which could have resulted in assists. He had a nice block in the 3rd. He had 3 steals and hit all 12 of his FTs.

Jarvis Williams had some nice hustle plays and hit a 3.

Millsap did what he does.

Trimble really does look like he has some legit ability to make plays with the ball but then he does too much. He had some poor defensive possessions maybe a lot of them. He did hit some 3's late in this game to make it a real game when it looked like it was over. It was still a pretty uneven performance from him.

Jefferson had a pretty good game with 25-12 with 7 steals. he was part of the rash of delay of game techs that the Wolves received which ended up being a real problem if you are worried about whether they won. I guess these guys haven't processed not touching he ball after makes etc. Oops.

Washpun has a play where he went up and tried to block Bennett who was skying for what looked like and easy dunk. Washpun fouled him and made him earn it but it looked like he got ball as well.

End of the 3rd quarter it's tied at 103 after Jefferson drove the length of the court scored and got fouled at the buzzer. This game seems like it took forever. There were a lot of fouls called in the 2nd half.

The announcer was a 1 man show and did a pretty good job. There was some mistakes but doing a 1 man job I can live it his effort. :)

Game report Wolves vs Suns game 2

Something you don't see everyday a shooter (Booker) kicked out his leg and got called for an offensive foul.

Amile Jefferson continues to do his thing. Bennett did get the best on him in a couple drives (Bennett looked better in this game) but Amile continues to look pretty good. What is really surprising even at this level is how much he is able to create off the dribble. On one move in the 2nd he had a successful crossover that led to a good look and was fouled.

Jarvis Williams had a solid game and I bring it up because I haven;'t mentioned him before.

For the Suns, Booker was nailing 3's again and Jones jr made some plays. Hollis Jefferson was a long hustle guy again and had a good game.

That's about it as nothing else really stood out.

Thanks for the update Monster. Jefferson is putting up some numbers, but unless he develops a 3-ball, I'm not sure he makes it to the big leagues. We'll see.

Q I don't think he has to have a 3 point shot to make it as a useful player. He has a decent looking shot so I wouldn't run that out as a possibility either. He is very Taj Gibson like in what he can do and how he can do a lot of things pretty well. It is the G-League but to come in as a rookie into that league and do what he is doing so far is pretty good. He is playing the next few days for Team USA for JVG so that will be interesting to see how it goes. I'll be honest I freaked out a little for a minute when I saw he hadn't played in a recent game wondering if another team had sniped him. Lol he is looking like the Matt Costello type who was kinda just a guy in college doing all the dirty work for a top program and then tore up the D-League his rookie year and then looked pretty good in SL. Amile has to do it over more than this handful of games but what I have seen (that's what we have to go on) I'm impressed and I wasn't expecting to be this enthralled* by him. Lol

Holy crap, these guys are on a roll. Iowa just torched OKC for their 9th win in 10 games. Anthony Brown had 35 points, going 10-16 from 3 and Amile Jefferson with 20 points, 18 rebounds, and 6 assists.

Patton looked pedestrian to me. Early in the season I wasn't too impressed with what I saw from these other guys, but I like how Roth has this team playing right now. Patton is honestly just a small part of their success, as he is only playing around 15 minutes per game. I frankly think he doesn't play hard enough. Glad to see he'll have to earn his minutes.
