But should Dunn take off... I don't know if Rubio at $16M for 16 mpg is the best value.

In that scenario the answer is pretty simple. It isn't. Like you said let things play out but let's say we get 25 games in and it's clear Dunn is the starting PG of the now and future you might as well look and see if there are any good deals for Rubio at that time. There might not be anything good enough to move him but I would see if those teams that called earlier are ready to pony up something worthwhile for him. I really don't know what to expect when it comes to a return for Rubio. The PG position is a bit odd to gauge because of its depth of that position in the league. You also have guys like MCW, Lawson and Brandon Jennings or even Derrick Rose that could play (or other stuff) themselves in or out of the equation as starting PGs plus maybe a guy or 2 we haven't yet considered that will play well when they get a shot.

If Dunn shows he's the real deal I sign and trade Ricky in the off-season for Noel. Philly has too many bigs. We need more defense in the frontcourt. Get Noel at about 4/40 or 4/48 and have the frontcourt solidified for the next 4 years. Use the small bump in cap space with what we already have to solidify the wing behind Zach and Wiggins with hopefully a solid 3@D guy and roll with:

Dunn/Tyus
Lavine/FA wing/Rush
Wiggins/FA wing
Dieng/Noel
Towns/Aldrich in spot minutes.

If we're discussing Bjelica or Muhammad making $10M per year... a healthy Noel isn't going to be available for that price.

Off-court problems, injury issues and not quite achieving his defensive potential all drive his price down. He's a risk for anyone to sign including us so he's not getting big money this off season.

But he's younger and more proven than Bjelica and/or Muhammad. In today's NBA, even 1/2 of one good season is worth $50M+ for a 22 year old. I also think the stench of Philly will help him as much as hurt him.

Somebody is going to take a flier on him...

Yep this is bad news, I wanted to see our starting 5 get back on track at home and even out our record. I'm looking at 0 and 4.

We'll see Jerry. The KAT-Wiggins-LaVine trio need to step up and show that they can win without needing a top 15 PG at the helm setting the table for everyone.

I don't think we lose much defensively since Dunn seems to already show flashes of brilliance there, but offensively he is not going to get these guys the same number of easy looks as Rubio did.

Tyus Jones tries to stay on the team.

Let's see if he's improved when the games actually matter.

Does this Rubio-Dunn dynamic have the potential to be a Wally Pipp situation?

Need to find a way to win, hopefully Dunn steps up, and our backup, whoever it is, can hold the fort.

The onus is on Big KAT tho now, he HAS to play better.

That's a good point Abe. I hope he shows he is up to the task in general.

Top 15 pg implies more than the reality of Ricky though. Its more realistic to call him an average NBA starter at pg.
